From Soft’s Armored Core Battle TV

Some interesting developments in Armored Core’s official website. From seems to be launching a replay based broadcast service upon the release of Last Raven Portable early this March. Speculations run that the service will allow players to upload and download various replay battles that builds upon Armored Core: Last Raven’s ability to save and load battle replays, a first for the series on the PS2, and likely the feature is being ported over to the PSP version as well.

Suddenly, we’re getting this idea of roving caravans of LR player teams all over Japan with their PSPs duking it out with other AC groups and posting the replays on Armored Core Battle TV. No news if this service will also be accessed when the international English version does get released.

In other news, From released a variety of Armored Core based themes for the PSP, go check them out as well.

Thanks NiX for the heads up.

Armored Core Retribution ACs Featured in Last Raven Portable

Dengeki Online Magazine has released a new batch of screen shots for the upcoming Armored Core Last Raven Portable, and these compelling screen shots show that one more additional item that seems to be missing from the Last Raven Portable extra parts list.

It seems that ACs featured in Dengeki Hobby Magazine’s own Armored Core Retribution published back in 2007 will be featured in the game, much like how the Victoria AC from Brave New World was featured in Silent Line Portable.

From the screen shots, we can see that this new arm part will function as a shield given its arm position, unless there are last-minute changes in its design and function for the final release. Additional screen shots after the jump.

Japanese Armored Core Silent Line Fight Videos

Now that Armored Core Silent Line Portable has been released in English, people might wonder how different Silent Line is compared to its predecessor and the rest of the Armored Core games.

As evidenced by the videos above and to follow, a lot has changed from the days of Armored Core 3 Portable. These videos were taken from Naitoh’s AC site some time around 2003-2004 during various sparring sessions or actual tournaments on the PS2 version.

These featured are probably among best Ravens to ever pilot an Armored Core, so its worth watching them. Maybe these fights might inspire some people to play AC more often and learn a couple of things in the process. One important thing to note: all these videos are played in hard mode, meaning all the lock boxes are much smaller.

Front Mission Evolved: New “Zephyr” Wanzer

The Front Mission Evolved blog recently updated with data on a new Wanzer set called the Zephyr, adding to the already revealed Frost and Zenith units in the game.

Developed by Diable Avionics, the Zephyr is the next generation Wanzer poised to replace the standard models currently in use. The overall structure of Zephyr can support a moderate range of weaponry and still maintain a high rate of mobility.

The Zephyr appears to be an original Wanzer design making its debut in FME. At first glance, the name seems to be an exclusion from Diable Avionics’ standard naming convention of using weather phenomena on their Wanzers (Frost, Gust, Storm for example), though a bit of further reading might lead one to the name of Zephyrus or “The West Wind” in Greek mythology, which puts it squarely back into Diable’s part naming system. Armored Core Last Raven Portable Extra Parts Revealed

A new parts list for the the upcoming Armored Core Last Raven Portable for the PSP has been announced, and from the looks of it From chose to bring back more classic parts from older AC titles instead of introducing new ones for the game. Most notable among the new additions is the WX-S800-GF from AC1 which launches 6 tightly spread missiles in the original game. The complete list of new parts after the jump:

Armored Core: Limit Release – AC Fan Game for PC

Here’s some interesting Armored Core related news, someone decided it was high time to move the game onto the PC platform. A person going by the name of Moodydave is currently developing a fan-made Armored Core game for the PC using the Unreal 3 development kit, and will be releasing it for free when the time comes. The story seems to be a mix mash of the various generations of Armored Core as taken from the Moddb page:

Set in the distant future, the majority of Earth has been destroyed by the Great Destruction, the terraforming of Mars by Zio Matrix has been put into Chaos by “The Frighteners” and the surface that mankind once thought would be within reach has been destroyed by “The Alliance”,”Vertex” and “The Ancient Weapons”. With hardly anything left mankind yet again lives below the surface dreaming of a future without war, but in reality can that dream by realized?.

Down below is the newly released Armored Core 5 trailer similar to the one shown at the end of Armored Core Championship Tournament Season 2. Much of the details obscured by the video quality of the previous version have now been reviled. Even with the full view, we still have no idea what that new spinning, burning screw-saw is really supposed to be aside from being an obvious over-sized melee weapon.
