MANILA, Philippines—Meet the police force’s new-est recruit—RoBOHcop.

The Philippine National Police Monday unveiled its new weapon to court public approval and stir interest in crime prevention.

Modeled after the iconic movie character Robocop, 6’4” Officer BOH was named after the PNP’s Badge of Honor program, a campaign for professionalism, discipline and leadership among police officers.

The program was launched earlier this year.

“You know how the image of our police officers is… So this is to regain the trust and confidence of the community,” said Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz of the PNP Police Community Relations Group, the brains behind the project.

Wearing Badge No. 00500, PNP Director General Jesus Verzosa’s badge number, Officer BOH debuted at Camp Crame Elementary School just before noon Monday, prompting students to run out of their classrooms as lessons went on.

Some were hesitant to approach the snappy officer. Some had no qualms patting the mascot’s fiber glass costume and posing for pictures. Curious ones inquired: “Is that real?”

Besides candy, schoolchildren received pamphlets on crime prevention and tips on how students may protect themselves while on campus—commuting or walking outside school grounds.

While strolling around Camp Crame, BOH and his peculiar cyborg walk got second looks from those around and received salutes from fellow officers.

He went to the Ayala station of the Metro Rail Transit and malls in Makati City later in the afternoon to continue his crime prevention mission.

Cruz said Officer BOH would be out on the streets “for as long as he is needed” and would be glad to visit provinces if invited. With a report from Abigail Kwok, INQUIRER.net

Modelled after Robocop? C'mon, it is Robocop, with a police cap and a badge. Made of fiber glass.

Saw Robo on the Philippine Star front page earlier.

It's actually a well-put together costume Shades

I'm just disappointed they didn't use Ed-209 as a mascot.

I sorta freaked-out yesterday evening, wasn't sure how I would feel if I lived to be old and I was on my deathbed and I knew my death was coming. Then I played Demon's Souls until I fell asleep.

Look who's finally arrived in RR.

Swearing Helps Reduce Pain
http://www.scientificamerican.com/articl...o-we-swear

Quote:The study, published today in the journal NeuroReport, measured how long college students could keep their hands immersed in cold water. During the chilly exercise, they could repeat an expletive of their choice or chant a neutral word. When swearing, the 67 student volunteers reported less pain and on average endured about 40 seconds longer.

Although cursing is notoriously decried in the public debate, researchers are now beginning to question the idea that the phenomenon is all bad. "Swearing is such a common response to pain that there has to be an underlying reason why we do it," says psychologist Richard Stephens of Keele University in England, who led the study. And indeed, the findings point to one possible benefit: "I would advise people, if they hurt themselves, to swear," he adds.

Gentleman
EPIC WIN. Okay guys, let's all start to fucking swear the fuck more. Jason
its rather simple the person becomes preoccupied cursing their fate therefore pays less attention to the actual pain.

I for one remember when I was gonna get a tetanus shot on the but I was crying like there was no tomorrow only to find out that it was all over and I didnt even realize the needle prick one bit XD
I am seeing a trend in the news I post here Ninja Anyway...

Girl Falls Into Manhole While Texting, Parents Sue City

Quote:We all know that walking and texting is a tough combination -- but a Staten Island teen learned the hard way when she fell into an uncovered sewer manhole while trying to send a message.

Now, the family of Alexa Longueira, 15, intends to sue.

The girl suffered a fright and some scrapes on her arms back after she dropped into the hole on Victory Boulevard.

The family said they will file a lawsuit -- for what, though, is not immediately clear. Her mother, Kim Longueira, said it doesn't matter that her daughter was walking and texting, and also, the 'gross' factor that can't be ignored.

"Oh my God, it was putrid," she said. "One of her sneakers is still down there"

LOL they'll sue for anything... even for their own stupidity. And it's funniest when they actually win these cases!
Q: Yung mga lasing at bangag na nahuhulog sa manhole sino dinedemanda?
A: Yung manhole. Nakarang kasi sa daan.

A joke but still works.
