Let’s play a game. You play as a 500 meter giant robot, and you have to defend the world from 15 invaders. Let’s increase the stakes by saying that you must defeat the enemy within 48 hours or Earth gets destroyed. Beat the enemy, and you pay with your life. Lose the fight, and the world gets destroyed, not to mention you dying in the process.

From Dengeki Online magazine. Looks like From is doing an awesome job fleshing out this new AC title, and we now have a good look at the new, smaller sense of scale that AC5 is bringing us. Thanks to J.E_Magog for the heads-up. The first pic though, reminds us of this little monster. More pictures after the jump:
The limited edition gunmetal version of Kotobukiya’s Tellus model kit from Armored Core 4 has finally been released and is (hopefully) available in your local hobby center. The gunmetal version considerably has different weapons compared to the original, most noticeable is the absence of the backmount folding laser cannon replaced by a radar part. Go grab one if you feel like having your Tellus kit with different colors.
Here are some first glimpses of what Armored Core 5 might look like coming from Famitsu’s website. So far the game is looking really good especially considering that its only 20% complete. Enjoy these pictures for now. More images after the jump:
As with the opening of Armored Core 5’s website, 1up has translated the Famitsu interview with long-time series producer Toshifumi Nabeshima and gives us a glimpse of what to expect with the next Armored Core game. The following are selected quotes from the interview which should give us a glimpse of Armored Core 5’s direction:
“I felt that with the previous game, Armored Core: For Answer, we had gone as far as we could with the ‘speed’ concept,” Nabeshima said. “Being able to present a new kind of mech hero in For Answer was a rewarding experience, but if we kept on pursuing speed, then the gameplay would start to falter in spots — most players simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with mach-5 combat. So this time we want to retain the core aspects of what makes the series interesting — and that includes speed — and also present some new concepts that diverge from the past.”

Here are a few scans of Famitsu Magazine’s coverage of Armored Core 5. According to Kotaku, the game is currently at 20% completion, so there’s a lot of room for improvement on the scans made in the game, also mentioned is AC5’s multi-platform status being released on both the PS3 and Xbox360.
From Software just recently opened its Armored Core 5 teaser site today. The announcement of a new Armored Core brings tears of joy and sadness to veteran players. We can all speculate as much as we want, and your guess is as good as ours on what new stuff this long running mech shooter franchise will feature. All will (hopefully) be revealed by January 14 as mentioned on the teaser page. Cross your fingers that From gets Armored Core right this time.
