I believe John Connor has an idea:

Quote: By the time The Pirate Bay became self aware it had spread into millions of computer servers all across the planet. Ordinary computers in office buildings, dorm rooms, everywhere. It was software, in Cyberspace. There was no system core. It could not be shut down."

Google launches Google Chrome Frame, which aims to bring "HTML5 and other open web technologies to Internet Explorer". In short, they're trying to get IE6 users to use Chrome. LOL

They have to do this if they want to use Google Wave by the way.

Wi-Fi Between Devices Coming in 2010

This is pretty awesome. One day we might talking to each other wirelessly. Of course, the reception probably won't be as nice as what the telecom networks provide us now through their satellites, but free is always a good thing. If this will be free.

Also, the Philippines will probably get it in 2013 anyway... so you have something to look forward to past the end of the world. Smile

I bet it would be slow though, at least we won't be forced to use cables and hotspots anymore just to pass some files (and probably have some wireless hardware as well) Smile

Rick, ito pala yung sinasabi mo nung isang araw! Tongue

And now onto new news: man hands himself in for the sake of undermining conflicting laws!

Quote:Dane who ripped his DVDs demands to be arrested under DRM law

In Denmark, it's legal to make copies of commercial videos for backup or other private purposes. It's also illegal to break the DRM that restricts copying of DVDs. Deciding to find out which law mattered, Henrik Anderson reported himself for 100 violations of the DRM-breaking law (he ripped his DVD collection to his computer) and demanded that the Danish anti-piracy Antipiratgruppen do something about. They promised him a response, then didn't respond. So now he's reporting himself to the police. He wants a trial, so that the legality of the DRM-breaking law can be tested in court.

...

Henrik told us: "But who should I follow? Those that determine the laws in this country? Or those who are lawyers for the companies that i'm committing a crime against?"

A not so amusing look at Google CEO Eric Schmidt's double standard

Quote:Google CEO says privacy doesn't matter. Google blacklists CNet for violating CEO's privacy.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt says privacy isn't important, and if you want to keep something private, "maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place" (in other words, "innocent people have nothing to hide.")
Bruce Schneier calls bullshit with eloquence: "For if we are observed in all matters, we are constantly under threat of correction, judgment, criticism, even plagiarism of our own uniqueness. We become children, fettered under watchful eyes, constantly fearful that -- either now or in the uncertain future -- patterns we leave behind will be brought back to implicate us, by whatever authority has now become focused upon our once-private and innocent acts. We lose our individuality, because everything we do is observable and recordable."

But JWZ has the kicker, when he reminds us that Eric Schmidt's Google blackballed CNet's reporters after CNet published personal information about Schmidt's private life: ""Google representatives have instituted a policy of not talking with CNET News reporters until July 2006 in response to privacy issues raised by a previous story..." "To underscore its point about how much personal information is available, the CNET report published some personal information about Google's CEO Eric Schmidt -- his salary; his neighborhood, some of his hobbies and political donations -- all obtained through Google searches...."

Hey, Eric: if you don't want us to know how much money you make, where you live, and what you do with your spare time, maybe you shouldn't have a house, earn a salary, or have any hobbies, right?
