Additional details provided by FromSoftware Producer Yasunori Ogura in an IGN exclusive interview
-Armored Core VI started development since 2018, started initially by Miyazaki, after protoyping was taken over by Yamamato
-Story of ACVI is brand new and has no direct link with previous titles. ACVI takes place in the future where interstellar travel takes place on a fictional planet called Rubicon III (not Earth). Rubicon is a devastated planet that was razed to ash in a great disaster caused by the outbreak of a mysterious new substance called "Coral" which occurred half a century before the events of the game took place.
-The player learns that Coral, which was thought to be lost, is rediscovered and corporate forces have begun an invasion race to acquire the rights to this mysterious and powerful substance.
-So they are in conflict with the ingenious forces who are resisting their invasion on the planet Rubicon. And the player as a lone independent mercenary, an AC Pilot is thrust into this Rubicon war for Coral.
-Although ACVI is a numbered title, the setting and story are completely new and we believe it makes a great first entry for new players.
-Armored Core offers two unique game experiences: dynamic 3-dimensional action only achievable my mechs, ability to personalize your AC to your liking
-ACs are able to fly freely through the air and handle multiple weapons simultaneously and turn on a dime and dash in different directions at once
-Ensured customization aspect is not just about the stats, but how these changes are reflected in the feel of the action. (IE it's not just about having the highest numbers)
-From has taken careful steps with the onboarding and level design in early stages of game so players can deepen their understanding, and little by little, work their way into that fun of the more complex parts
-Also prepared a training simulator and tried to make controls more intuitive so that new players will feel free and enjoy the feel of piloting their very own Armored Core
-ACVI is an attempt to take both the knowledge and experience gained from experience titles and combine with the fun of the mech customization that AC has always embraced
-ACVI is meant embody From's approach to design: intricate map structure, combat design that allows players to deal with players by carefully observing their movements, and the ability to overcome challenging situation with ingenuity and creativity
-Armored Core's basic format and genre is completely different from games in the Souls lineage
-ACVI is mainly a shooting game, but individuality of the melee weapons is one area of focus in ACVI.
-From would like players to use their ingenuity and creativity to create a combination of their own making (IE your own AC)
-Multiplayer: main content of ACVI is Single player, progressing though traditional mission structure. There will be an online PVP mode to allow players to fight and share ACs/emblems. Story mission are single player only. More details about the online aspect to be shared at later date.

Additional details provided by FromSoftware game director Masaru Yamamura via article by Heidi Kemps (Playstation Blog)
-the material "Coral" (a powerful energy source found on Rubicon) is extremely volatile and responsible for causing planetwide destruction on Rubicon
-Rubicon's environments vary drastically, as the " hollowed-out industrial ruins from the aforementioned disaster smolder beneath a shiny shell of state-of-the-art mining constructs encasing the planet."
-World is intricate and multi-layered with large mega-structures and enormous underground facilities that cover the planet
-The expansive environments will deliver an incredible sense of scale, and players will be able to traverse these areas
-Missions similar to previous series (battle missions, but also recovering data logs and side objectives, etc.)
-Game introduces "Assault Boost," an "an instantaneous switch between long-range gunfighting and close-range melee"
“Assault Boost is an offensive action that helps close the gap between enemies and lets you quickly go from long distance to close range,” Yamamura tells us. It will also provide some incredible chain abilities when fighting, as he describes vividly: “Say you activate Assault Boost to make your approach while using machine gun fire and a missile salvo to stagger the enemy, then use your pulse blade to score a direct melee hit once you’re up close.”
-Stagger - Similar to Stagger/Armor Break in 5th Gen and Stagger in Sekiro, repeatedly attack in AC will overload its "Attitude Control System" resulting in an AC becoming more vulnerable. Different weapons cause different degrees of stagger damage.
-Average speed of the game is in between AC3 and ACV, but ACVI is very much about "changing tempo" of combat, so there are instances of "instantaneous bursts of speed" similar to AC4.
-ACVI will have a large variety of enemies with different sizes and purposes to challenge the player. This also includes other ACs and "humanoid mechs"
-Customization is still a key part of AC. Players will have four slots for holding weaponry, two for hands, and two for the back slots
-Re-iterated focus on uniqueness of melee. Melee weapons can only be equipped on left hand, but many different potential types (cluster bomb thrower, chainsaw, pulse blade, lances, etc).
-Arena will be returning in the form of "“combat aptitude evaluation program” (simulated training exercise)."
-Players will still aim to be the top at the arena, but can also encounter these ACs in missions (and will be harder)
-ACVI will have multiple endings with new endings becoming available on later playthrough

Famitsu interview with Masaru Yamamura and Yasunori Ogura
NOTE: The following article was translated from Japanese via DeepL. As we cannot guarantee translations are 100% accurate, some sections are omitted as the translation is unclear, and some sections which are already discussed in above articles are simplified.
-Ogura thanks all fans supporting the AC series for the past ten years
-Miyazaki and team were interested in developing a new AC title but could not partially due to existing projects
-Initial production began around 2017-2018
-Development occurred around same time as Elden Ring
-Ogura was surprised at the international response for ACVI, as with prior game Social Media wasn't developed enough for them to gauge a good level of response and interest from outside of Japan
-FromSoft has a reputation for "dark action RPG" nowadays, but many old fans remember them for their robot games. They hope ACVI will begin a new trend where From is known for both
-Ogura and Yamamura both confirm (again) that ACVI will not be in the same vein as Dark Souls but have taken lessons learned from those games to influence ACVI's design.
-Re-iterates same story points as above articles, but also talks a bit more about the player character, who has lost their emotions in exchange for the AC piloting technology, echoing similarities with the previous story concepts of HUMAN Plus in older games
-The player character does not speak, as is tradition with the AC series
-Re-iterates that speed is between AC3 and ACV, but in some moments speed of combat can be faster for short periods of times
-Shooting weapons are still primary focus, but melee does play a part and they have made extra efforts to make it more unique
-Re-iterates the points about players building their own unique ACs and not focusing just on function, but also form
-Yamamura brings up the "Core Expansion Function" which is like the Assault Armor feature from Armored Core: For Answer. Yamamura indicates "The operating principle and other settings are different, but it is the same in that it releases a shockwave with a barrier."
-Also brings up Impact Power as a counterpart to attack power which seems to play into Stagger, (and sounds like Impact Force and Recoil Resistance in ACV/VD)
-The usual aesthetic customization options are available, including new ones such as modifying texture (such as luster and reflection) and weathering
-The "shield" in the trailer is a type of shoulder weapon and is meant to be used when the player is cornered or in a difficult situation
-Shield also has a feature called "Initial" Guard that allows it to increase its range temporarily for about one second (the translation doesn't indicate it, but this may be related to the EMP effect show in the initial trailer)
-New element called "Assault" Boost and is similar to Overboost in older games but is more specialized. Reiterates same points for how it works above.
-ACVI will offer repair kits. In previous games there was no way to replenish AP (health) with some very rare exceptions. AC's will now be able to recover health in midst of battle with these kits, and can be used up to three times.
-Interview talks about the notoriety of AC controls, specifically the infamous reverse grip used in AC by some players, and Yamamura indicated controls should be more intuitive
-Reiterates that game is mainly singleplayer and there are no cooperation or versus elements like Dark Souls. There is however a separate standard muiltiplayer
