Rant: After about five months of work here, the company has decided to let me go. That's it. Kaput - I'm on unemploymentville now.

I was the writer for our game forums, and quite frankly, it had poor traffic to begin with, with my news section relegated to a position at the bottom of the threads.

And our boss is wondering why the traffic has not shifted in six months. The consolation is that he does think my articles are good and creative.

And this is why we shoulda stuck with a dedicated video game blog instead of moving my stuff to a section in the forums. Pfft.

And to think I just had a serious family crisis last week. 2011 just keeps getting better and better.

Welcome to the club mate! Nah seriously, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you can get back on your feet soon (someone has to be hiring around this time of the year...)

Rant:
Brother's becoming restless, he is now constantly whining about how this place is a shithole and that the world is boring beyond belief - I don't blame him, it has been nearly a decade since we left Taiwan and we are living in the middle of nowhere. But then, he finally has a chance to go back to take a break later on in the fall, and who knows how long I'll get trapped here...

Here's the thing about Salt Lake City, Utah, United States: while the populace is generally friendly here, passions here are about as cold as the frigid weather in the winters. It is difficult to form any kind of friendship here with the locals, as everyone here is eager to be on their way else where due to the fact that the population density is so low and the place is so freaking large.

So he thinks that his loneliness could be cured just by going back for one week? Doubtful, consider that he left no connections before he left, but he really has no way to forsee that - he thought that the original purpose of coming over to the States was to take a long vacation, looks like he was wrong.

@TS: Try freelancing work offered on the net to tide you over until you get another job? I can't think of anything else though.

Good luck!

hmm..you can write papers for lazy college kids XD or how about just making money on your own gameblog? a co-worker of mine does that. not nearly as much pay as an actual job tho. also look into other skills you have. btw, im not sure if we're still hiring here. i'll ask around. the QA team still needs members i think.

Happens to me way too many times more than my patience can handle, although in this case, it's mostly the buses that really raise my blood pressure. Argh

@Everybody

Thanks guys. Seriously, I appreciate the support.

As it happens, I've gotten pretty chummy with several of the gameblogs we were contacting during my PR work, so I'll ask about freelance work for them. Even if it doesn't pay, that's still an incentive for me to keep my writing skills sharp.

One of them belongs to a big Monster Hunter Portable 3rd gamer group over in MOA - you wanna arrange a meeting between RR and them? LOL

The other blogger - a nice lady by the name of Jewel Wong - is head of a large cosplay club here in Manila. So yeah, I met a lot of friends thanks to this job, so it's not a total loss.

Rant/Rave: I won't be looking for work for the next six months. A close relative has taken seriously ill recently, and I've already promised to be with them as much as I can. Work, I can find later - family comes first.

Rant: Nearing 28, and still can't hold down a job for more than 2 years. Fuck.

MHPH? Tongue If so, I know the people in charge.

Hm. I'm not sure if it's really my place to ask this since I don't update the thing, but RR's last main page blog entry was on Dec. 23 D:

Hey, TS, can we expect to have a new addition to the Armored Core Analogs weapons series then? Tongue

If I'm not too busy attending to said relative and to HayWire's training, why the hell not? Big grin

Just gimme a list of hardware you want to be given teh TS treatment.

@Sforza

Nothing long, but I can report about game news. Expect a good bit of crazy funny in the material though - it'll help take the edge off the family problem.
