Here's the list.
Has anyone tried any of these games? Please recommend a few if you have, I'd like to hear from you. I'm particularly interested in the shmups.

I've played Maniac Mansion and Super Maryo Chronicles. One of these days I'll get around to opening the zip file of Flight of the Amazon Queen.
Maniac Mansion is funny. Good if you have some time on your hands, and aren't looking to rush through a game.
Super Maryo Chronicles is pretty bleh. I know it's a legal version of Super Mario World if you didn't get to play the latter, but I prefer the original.

Wolfenstien: Enemy territory is very good for a free game. Its an objective based, team play, WWII FPS game with objectives and capture points in a map. Its kinnda expected to be good since it was originally planned as a retail game, but then decided to release it for free as it had problems with the single player content.
And I'm surprised at entry 16... A free eroge that's only 5MB in size???
Oh and here's a list of top 20 games of different genres from Indy Gaming:

Most of it is free, though some are made by small groups who sell it commercially.

A list of top indy developed shmups in 2006, though some of them are just trial versions.

Wired Magazine's
Top 10 Games for 2007.
I can't really agree or disagree, because I haven't played most of them. Wish Odin Sphere or Persona 3 were there though.
Do you guys have any other "top games" lists? This one seems very biased towards FP shooters.

1UP's Free Games 2008 list - Some pretty good ones there, like
Dark Cut 2 mwahahaha
Home of the Underdogs freeware recommendations - More games than I could ever care to play. Again, having played some of the titles, there are a few gems.
