Cyrene could not help but give a long sigh. Her fox ears and tail drooped, two fingers on her temple and a slightly annoyed look on her face as she tried to gather her thoughts. The source of her annoyance was the missive she held on her other hand, one that came from the Higher Elders. She shook her head.
What were they thinking? Sure, Chikane-chan has improved a lot but seriously? Now?
The crimson-haired Saikiri sighed once more before turning to the half-feline Guardian who was kneeling on one knee before her, head down, not looking at the fox-girl directly. That particular female Guardian who was donned in a modified short lilac and white kimono of sorts. Her kimono’s upper sleeves cut off to expose its wearer’s shoulders and uppers arms and its white lower sleeves oversized to the point it covered the Guardian’s gauntleted hands. The hem of the kimono was cut short, exposing most of the half-feline’s legs but white stockings adorned with the tribal markings of the Kurori Akaiko tribe, reached up to her thighs to hide them from view. A pair of split toed tabi boots completed the Guardian’s ensemble.
“Saikiri-sama?” Said Guardian called out.
“Hai. I apologize,” Cyrene shook her head; her long crimson hair swaying in tandem, “Are the High Elders sure about this?”
The fox-eared girl did her best not to frown as the Guardian looked up at her. The half-feline was wearing a black Kitsune mask, obscuring whatever expression she had on. Two white cat ears peeked out of the Guardian’s long purple hair, tied in a secure long braid that ran the length of her back to her tail. Her tail’s tip was white as well and Cyrene couldn’t help notice the small round golden bell tied to the Guardian’s tail, near its tip, just like the ones the Guardian has on the choker around her neck and the straps of her boots.
“Hai. Tsukihana-sama himself was the one who insisted on it.”
Cyrene’s brow furrowed at that as her arms crossed across her chest.
Tsukihana Amatsu, huh.
“Well I told them before, I don’t think Yanagi-sama is ready for that yet. She needs a bit more training before they can go ahead with what they want to do.” The crimson haired Saikiri replied flatly.
“But it is imperative that Yanagi-sama goes through the ceremony as I was told, “The half-feline replied, “We need the help of the Goddess’ reincarnate as soon as possible.”
“I see.” The fox-eared girl said as she closed her eyes, pondering her thoughts.
“I think the ceremony will help Yanagi-sama as well,” The Guardian added, “ Tsukihana-sama said so.”
He really thinks so? Cyrene thought to herself. Though it was true she felt that Chikane wasn’t fully ready yet but it was also true that there were those who need the help of the Goddess Reikitsunamizu’s avatar as soon as possible. As her mentor, she wanted the young Channeler to train a bit more but she knew she can’t keep Chikane away from her duties as Reikitsunamizu’s Reincarnate longer than she has been now.
“Fine.” The crimson-haired fox-girl finally said, “I’ll let Yanagi-sama go through the ceremony. I assume the preparations are set?”
The half-feline nodded.
“Hai, Saikiri-sama. I have escorted all the Channelers needed.” The Guardian said, “We just need some time to settle the other arrangements.”
All of them? The fox-eared girl did her best not to act too surprised.
“I see.” Cyrene nodded, “Then I’ll introduce you to Yanagi-sama then, at least she should be aware of your presence and the ceremony.”
“Hai.” The kimono-garbed half-feline bowed once more.
