Aquino's promises and statements so far (as of last night):
1. All midnight deals and appointments will be looked into
2. Dinky Soliman is back as DSWD secretary. That's a good thing.
3. We will not appoint relatives up to 4th degree of consanguinity.
4. Gov't has lost its power to affect people's lives and so the first order of the day is to address corruption.
5. Streamline the cabinet by removing non-essential positions
6. Plans to appoint Gibo to cabinet post
*Noynoy is the only candidate who said he will run after GMA.
Not bad so far. Anyway, we have to accept the pitfalls of democracy. It's also the responsibility of ordinary citizens to hold the government accountable, and there's a lot of work to be done. We might not like Noynoy very much, but he's the President and he promised a lot of good things for the country as well. I hope he lives up to those promises now, especially the eradication of corruption. By most estimates, that would instantly add 30% (the invisible corruption allocation) in funds to our national budget.
Disclaimer: I voted for Gibo.
