Just watched the documentary that won this year's Academy Awards for its category, partially because of the insanely high ratings, and because it was set in Japan.
The Cove at Rotten Tomatoes
The Cove at Metacritic
The movie was about the annual dolphin massacre at Taiji, but it turned out to be a thriller about how to sneak underwater cameras and microphones into a natural fortress. The movie doesn't try to force anything down your ass, like the Greenpeace anti-whaling activists. It makes good arguments for wildlife conservation, and how dolphins may be self-aware.
It doesn't try to shock the viewers with scenes of mutilated dolphin corpses either.
Anyway, it's a great documentary. Definitely worth your time.
You can get it on torrent, or just grab a copy from me
