Saddest moments

I'm pretty sure we've never had something like this so far so here it is. The saddest moments from any games you can think of.

From last year's Valkyria Chronicles.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MqZIXoun1dk&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MqZIXoun1dk&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

The Japanese version
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sqzorWPtIkg&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sqzorWPtIkg&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

That was a real heartbreaker because you never expected to see someone with so much potential getting offed just like that. It was so unexpected that i immediately reloaded my save file, thinking that i had done something wrong somewhere during the previous mission and had gotten a bad ending for it. It was really upsetting when i belatedly realized that it was for real.

Where the hell were the medics during all of this!?

So any other video game moments that you guys think are real downers?

When I was playing Zelda: The Minish Cap on GBA emulator. I was already around halfway when I suddenly OVERWROTE my current saved state with a saved state OF THE TITLE SCREEN. -_-

Was so sad that I didn't bother playing the game again

EDIT: I know this isn't what you had in mind, Fox. But still. Tongue

Well, i guess that could count as a tragedy. Reminds me of the time my memory card died on me at the end of disc one of Xenogears.

At least a conked out memory card isn't your fault. I only had myself to blame. LOL

I finished Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume, and cried for 30 minutes after the game ended.

Yeah, Yumemi dies in the end, but her last words were among the most touching things I've ever read. "Don't let heaven be split in two. Don't let there be a heaven for robots, and a heaven for humans. Let there be one heaven where we can both live with together in happiness" (Well, her last words were along those lines) those words provide a counterpoint to the idea that machines will have no need for humans once they reach technological singularity (Machines and technology evolving by themselves without the need for human intervention, and suiting the needs of machines). Her lines reflect an idea where robots machines can co-exist with humans in everyday life such as seen in Astro Boy, despite being just a cartoon. This game is also the reason to why I am no longer afraid of a future as seen in the Matrix and in the Terminator, where machines rule with a literal iron fist.

Sorry, i had forgotten that you were also pretty upset at that plot twist there.

@Leperman
I remember that too, even though she wasn't human, her death was still pretty hard to take.

FF6 is probably my favorite RPG. There's lots of emotional moments in that one.

General Leo's death would be right up there with Cyan's family. The story of Terra's parents, too.

So wanted to pwn the shit out of kefka that time Domo

Was FF6 also the one where that girl jumps off a cliff when she finds out everyone is already gone?

I remembered this video I watched some time ago. See if you can recognize all the games. Warning for lengthy MGS homage.
