2. Do the movement slowly.

Count to 1 seconds as you contract your abs, hold your position just before your chest touches your knees - about 8 inches distance between them - and hold that position for around 2 secs, before lowering your upper torso down. Also, make sure the downward movement is also controlled - don't just drop back on the floor.

The idea is to keep your abs under a constant, controlled tension during the whole exercise, since "bouncing" up and dropping down is cheating.

3.he pain you feel in your abs should be akin to a burning sensation if you're doing the exercise properly. If it feels more like a tear, you might want to stop.

4. Don't forget to stretch

EXCELLENT article on proper diet. One of the best I've ever read.

RE: The General Fitness Thread - NiX - 02-21-2010

Isn't that what they all say. LOL But it's all hogwash. Hahahah.

RE: The General Fitness Thread - J.E_Magog - 02-21-2010

OO nga e, talking from their "experience" daw.
If not for the internet, we could end up becoming like those people.

My mom has used all those lines on me LOL

My answer has always been in the lines of: Show me the scientific data that proves your point, then I'll listen. Now she thinks I'm being impudent Ermm

RE: The General Fitness Thread - Serene - 02-22-2010

My lola -sumalangit nawa- goes: 'Sige kainin mo yung taba ng baboy para tumaba din puso mo loko!' 'Heto kanin mo Baka!'

Got through the first month. Kinda lost 2kg. Waistline is getting close to 36(from 37). I could have lost more kung nakapag bike ako. But it gets too hot outside so I can only do it early in the morning. Too bad I don't wake up early.
Getting some definition especially with the shoulders(upright rows).

RE: The General Fitness Thread - Twin-Skies - 02-23-2010

I haven't lost weight yet, but my pecs and traps feel more solid now, and my reflexes are improving.

A pretty bad-ass Under Armor ad featuring GSP, Michael Phelps and Brandon Jennings:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oulAaW4OjDY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oulAaW4OjDY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

It's very similar to this one from the Jordan brand, which includes Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and a fictional high school team all busting their asses while Derek Jeter takes it pretty easy:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BNP16ulyd6c&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BNP16ulyd6c&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

God these things pump me up.

The problem with all this recent weight loss for me is that it's screwing with the sizing of my clothes. -__________-

At least it's not the other way around and you're not gaining.

I can relate though. My problem is that all the weights are making my clothes tighter around the upper body.
