Yeah. I found out the hard way that the key to painting decent faces is shading and layering. Soooo here's a little bit more progress for today. Decals and panel lines. And a shot of the almost-completed MS. Just need to fix some errors and do the topcoat. RE: What the hell are you working on? - Serene - 03-17-2018 hindi sya mukhang kitbash talaga. ahahahha RE: What the hell are you working on? - Fox - 03-18-2018 (03-17-2018, 03:40 AM)Serene Wrote: hindi sya mukhang kitbash talaga. ahahahha I remember someone saying before that a good kitbash is the one that doesn't even look like a kitbash in the end. The thing is, the end product will be delayed by a bit. Due to a problem with paint bleeding, i need to strip one part and start over. Gimme a few days since the laziness is starting to kick in. In the meantime, here's a delicious posterior shot. RE: What the hell are you working on? - J.E_Magog - 03-18-2018 Not familiar with that particular gundam series so it's hard to tell if it's kitbashed or not. It looks a bit taller than a Hazel gundam. Finally took the courage to start putting this kit together. Will do the usual glue + cleanup but no plans to paint yet. That gold looks good. RE: What the hell are you working on? - J.E_Magog - 03-22-2018 A bit of size comparison for the 1/144 1/100 A-Toll with some other kits. The arms have an unnecessarily high number of parts, around 32 per arm at this point RE: What the hell are you working on? - Fox - 03-23-2018 (03-22-2018, 11:58 PM)J.E_Magog Wrote: A bit of size comparison for the 1/144 1/100 A-Toll with some other kits. Actually the legs almost have the same number of parts as the arms but the assembly made more sense RE: What the hell are you working on? - Fox - 04-06-2018 At natapos din sa wakas. Ready for delivery na. Antagal din na naging WIP itong punyetang ito. RE: What the hell are you working on? - J.E_Magog - 04-11-2018 So I guess the gold trim in the black areas are hand painted? I wish Bandai spent more time figuring out how to deal with the gold areas. It feels too little too late when they came up with a better solution in the RG kit. Three coats of gold to get a nice, even finish. I feel like trying another Sinanju in the future but with silver trim instead of gold. Maybe several years from now. And it looks better because ended up with accidental detailing RE: What the hell are you working on? - Fox - 04-18-2018 I started work on an old HGUC Gelgoog around a couple weeks ago. It wasn't even a new kit. Rather, I got it from Trace-02 sometime back in 2010 after he had bought it from an ukay-ukay somewhere in QC. The kit was missing a lot of stuff, including verniers, a backpack, a proper rifle-gripping hand, the clear mono-eye piece, etc, etc. I raided my scrapbox to replace a lot of the missing parts but ended up kitbashing and scratchbuilding stuff, including the hands and the backpack. Originally, this was supposed to be painted in Herbert Von Kuspen's colors from the MS Igloo: Apocalype OVA, which was supposed to a light gray on-medium-gray and dark gray scheme. Problem is, the light gray i used (Armored Komodo's Harbor Gray) came out a few shades darker when it dried. The decals were improvised. Since there isn't any official decal sheet produced by Bandai, i had to get creative with the caped-skull logo that Von Kuspen has on his Gelgoog. I think it turned out alright. Painting was a combination of spraycans, airbrushing and handbrushing. The kit was primed with Bosny's primer gray. Most of the body was airbrushed with Armored Komodo's Harbor Gray, Slate Gray and a 1:1 combo of Slate Gray and Charcoal Black. Beam saber and rifle was also airbrushed with ArKom Gunmetal Black. The dark gray on the feet was Vallejo Game Color Heavy Charcoal while the backpack and joints were done with Vallejo Dark Sea Gray. I'm cutting short work on this one as I want to move on to other stuff. Just the topcoat left to do. |
