I always thought that IP rights were overly exaggerated in other parts of the world, especially in the US. But this is just stupid. =/ WTF is 'malicious intent' anyway? That can be interpreted whichever way by anyone. =/
edit: Was that supposed to be an article or was it meant to just be a blog post? Cuz it's awfully biased for a news report. I even see the word "lame", which should have no place in a professional report. =/
edit2: First half is formatted as a news article while the second half comes off as an opinion column. =/ The lack of a proper editor makes our local online news sites pretty unreliable.

@NiX
How about an opinion from a retired lawyer?
http://houseonahill.net/twisted-brotherh...ower-play/
Regardless, Even I think what the SC did was sleazy - accusing UP of contempt instead of calling out Castillo's plagiarism. If they had cited these works directly and used footnotes, that wouldn't have been an issue at all.
What kind of a fucking laywer fucking forgets one of the first fucking things they teach you in writing school? Fuck!

I'm not saying the report was inaccurate. Just saying that it didn't know whether it was a news report or an opinion column.
And yes, this whole thing is bullshit. So much for our educational system.

I didn't find her impression very accurate though. Sounded more like a Chinese accent.
Anyway, Filipinos are overreacting as usual.
