As for me, I want to see the first episode first. That's where we'll know if it's aimed for kids.

I'm thinking it's more like Bandai's making an effort to make the kids of this generation aware of the Gundam metaseries. Kinda like how they made people aware of Gundam back in the Nineties (Wing, X, G) and the Noughties (SEED, 00). This is like their initial offering for the next decade.
Surprisingly, despite my misgivings, the action seems pretty decent.
it doesn't look all that kid friendly in my book but yeah benefit of the doubt. still can't make heads or tails on this though.
