The name of the AC came from a Japanese PS game called VALKEN. It's like Front Mission. Anyway, this name was used in one of my SL ACs.

This AC is in the wrong game. Almost. Before you guys start changing stuff, I'd suggest trying out the AC in the game. OB a lot, please. OB whore as if it was SL.

How to pilot: SL-style OB in close, flank opponent, MG away. This is probably the best way I can describe the "how-to-pilot".

Issue on this AC: Check the "RAKAN" topic in AC theory discussion.

Comments? Suggestion? Death threats?

Oh and by SL-OBing, Tim means for you to go ahead and boost all you want even during the start-up of OB. You still won't overheat. This AC's OB abilities are pretty nasty, kinda like Godhand's Invictus.

I've had problems regarding those numbers for the Rakan, and in fact also the B81 too. Check out your thread later. Maybe it's just a placebo effect or something.

That said, I'm not so inclined to use Kissyoh on lights anymore, as I feel that they have enough acceleration and mobility to be able to dodge any missile; enough to warrant its non-usage. Plus as you say you're very mobile with this design using OB, and people wait only until the first or second missile lock before letting go anyway. I'd put it in LA to round out the Limpet's deficiency in that area.

I know those legs real well from the time I used them in my Madness design, but once they break, it's hard landings all the way. Panther's a mystery in that area, I don't seem to have any problems at all with them, even if they break. Plus you get better shell def from the latter legs, at the cost of only around 80 points to energy def, not to mention less energy drain.

EDIT: Tested the Panther, and sadly it does hard-land after all. Sorry about that. Still, if it's any consolation, it seems to hold up to breaking better than the L2.

I have to give praise to you dude. This is one of the most fun OB designs I've played in a while, seriously. Rakan's a really fun core to use, I think you've nailed it down by using dual MGs, which utterly AP rape at close range by the way. This AC really lends itself well to OB whoring and DFA tactics, and the OB slide-jump performance of this thing is killer.

Two HANDS (not thumbs) up! Big grin

Hahah yeah this AC's definitely fun to use as well as challenging to fight against. It's never in your lockbox!

Oh and Mix, this AC had better be fun! We worked on this for around 2 hours straight a little past midnight.

Thanks, GH. Yeah, dual MG has never been this killer after only 2-3 seconds of exposure (well, it is NIX on the left anyway, haha).

I placed the Kissyoh as more of an anti-missile system, instead of just anti-multilock. Speed + Kissyoh is theoretically supposed to given me a shielding from being locked by missiles. But, yeah, I'll look into the LA. I still got killed by missiles anway (took on NiX's Purple Haze, and he was OB jousting with Satyros+RM3, which is like a nade. LOL!).

B81 can work for this since, well, it's around 700 pts underweight.

That given, maybe I should check out the PANTHER. I always thought the 84L2 outclassed that leg, paperwise. But if that's the case, then PANTHER may even work better for my purposes. Afterall, I do have a lot of problems once the leg gets damaged.

And, suprisingly, this is the first AC in LR I've used that is MG based, and can work against human players. Cool.

I'd keep the KISSYOH simply because a human opponent may get a full missile lock/s and you might get caught with your pants down.

I'm not good with lights, but have you tried underweighing a JAGUAR2 on this design?

AS Valken 2 was awesome BTW, it still remains one of the best mech game intros I've seen, very anime-ish and cool.

similar thing with the dingo vs. dingo2. until people got tired of the latter breaking like glass. all those orgasmic stats....flushed down the toilet one GL shot later.

"leg part destroyed"

gosh... the Exzas Alpha looks like a more advanced version of my deamon flanker... it has exactly the same weapon set-up before I switched to shotguns
69M, rm3, pixie3,nix.

I've tried for long time to get SL type OB... looks like you found it dude. nice find.
am so envious.

asking permission to use the Rakan on my deamon flanker. Problem is it will then be exactly the same design as Exzas Alpha .

Hahah. Adrian, you don't necessarily need the RAKAN to achieve the SL-type OB that this AC achieves. The HELIOS works really nicely too, though the OB is drainier.

Basically, the formula for SL-type OB is to combine any generator that has really low calorific value, such as the LOTUS, with boosters that have really low booster heat, such as the B81. A low-drain, high-cooling frame is necessary too.

And know which Core has the highest (or lowest) OB charge-up heat. Sadly, that stat is hidden.

This was originally on Jaguar2. I switched to the 84L2 for the speed-up. Since the boost of this AC is weak, I needed every bit of speed I could get. Also, their different in weight is around 200, which is a big thing in terms of mid-air movement.

@Adrian: Permission granted. :bigsmile:
@Leperman: Wohoo! Someone else played AS Valken2!
