Seriously though, like Apple pointed out in chat a couple of days ago, there seems to be an increasing movement towards fighting piracy through alternative means recently (she gave a link that puts surcharges on file sharing naman). Nevertheless it has to be said, it'll only be a matter of time before people flock to using the even darker underbellies of the internet's networks to pass data and files along.

Another classic example of the Japanese way of problem solving; which is to cover a problem's stench with bureaucratic toilet paper and hope it goes away. The solution in the Wired article might work, but it will have to pass through imminent protest by broadband users that do not download any pirated material.
