Colby Curtin, a 10-year-old with a rare form of cancer, was staying alive for one thing - a movie. From the minute Colby saw the previews to the Disney-Pixar movie Up, she was desperate to see it. Colby had been diagnosed with vascular cancer about three years ago, said her mother, Lisa Curtin, and at the beginning of this month it became apparent that she would die soon and was too ill to be moved to a theater to see the film. After a family friend made frantic calls to Pixar to help grant Colby her dying wish, Pixar came to the rescue.

The company flew an employee with a DVD of Up, which is only in theaters, to the Curtins’ Huntington Beach home on June 10 for a private viewing of the movie.

The animated movie begins with scenes showing the evolution of a relationship between a husband and wife. After losing his wife in old age, the now grumpy man deals with his loss by attaching thousands of balloons to his house, flying into the sky, and going on an adventure with a little boy.

Colby died about seven hours after seeing the film.

Pixar officials declined to comment on the story or name the employees involved.

It was great for Pixar to actually fly someone over with the movie and then give souvineers. They didn't even want credit for the act by saying no comment to the media. Didn't know corporations could still act that way.

For self benefit or not, the fact that they granted the person's wish like that is something not so easily done. My hat's off to Pixar for this kind of act.

Don't wanna sound preachy but I'm surprised the Iran election protests hasn't been discussed here at all. I think everyone should at least try and find out what's going on, to appreciate the country you live in in spite how bad things may seen. Be thankful for democracy.

Many of us here get our news from other sites, or the newspapers or other message boards. That's probably why no one bothered to start a thread for all the Iran stuff. Besides, media all over is already covering it more than anything else right now. There's no real way to be "ignorant" about it.

But with that said, I know that Iran definitely needs our support. The Philippines, come election time, might have to deal with some similar bullshit.

Shaq gets traded to the Cavs for Big Ben and Pavlovic

This is a big move for the Cavs, and could potentially revive Shaq's game a bit like when he moved to the Heat a couple of years ago. Of course one may argue he wasn't as old then as he was now, and that's a fair point. Still, I see the Cavaliers making the Conference Finals again this coming season.

Also, poor Pavlovic - he's been a solid player off the bench for the Cavs over the years, and now he's saying bye-bye.
