The article in itself doesn't really interest me that much per se. I just want to show how politicians in other countries readily accept their shame when linked to a scandal. Dito sa atin, pakapalan talaga kahit gaano na ka-obvious eh. -_-

Here's something even worse than the self-destruction of her own family: Kerns is the sponsor of Oklahoma House Bill 2211, the "Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act". You can tell from the title what it is: a bill that would privilege religious opinions over scientific information in public school classrooms. The story is all over the Oklahomans for Excellence in Science Education page, as you might guess. The bad news is that the HB 2211 has passed in the House and is on its way to the Oklahoma senate, where we'd better hope it gets shot down. Here's what it does:

The bill requires public schools to guarantee students the right to express their religious viewpoints in a public forum, in class, in homework and in other ways without being penalized. If a student's religious beliefs were in conflict with scientific theory, and the student chose to express those beliefs rather than explain the theory in response to an exam question, the student's incorrect response would be deemed satisfactory, according to this bill.

The school would be required to reward the student with a good grade, or be considered in violation of the law. Even simple, factual information such as the age of the earth (4.65 billion years) would be subject to the student's belief, and if the student answered 6,000 years based on his or her religious belief, the school would have to credit it as correct. Science education becomes absurd under such a situation.

Well, this is kinda related to that one but Saddam reportedly did attempt to create a supercomputer out of hundreds of PS2s a few years back. That project really didn't go anywhere though.

I don't remember hearing about this, but I did read an article one time when they managed to build a supercomputer out of 70 PS2's

Porn & Christian Lobbies Double Team Violent Games in Australia

Christian groups and pornographers don’t, as a rule, agree on many things.

In Australia, however, the seemingly disparate groups have found some common ground: violent video games are bad.

As reported by news.com.au, it was the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) and porn lobby group the Eros Foundation which, well, found themselves in bed together on the video game issue.

The noteworthy hook-up came in the wake of a decision by Australia’s attorneys general to seek public comment as to whether an R18+ rating should be added for video games. Under present law, any game which exceeds MA15+ is effectively banned. Titles which have been blocked under the current system include Grand Theft Auto III, Blitz: The League and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

I believe this is what is called an "unholy alliance"
