Encryption + Proxies
#1
They are your friends, and everybody has a use for them at one time or another. I wanted to bring this up given the possibly illegal activity of the TSA (US border police) requiring the screening of electronics for all new arrivals.

(Freeware) TrueCrypt data encryption tutorial:

Also as I'm sure everybody our age has a decent amount of illegal content (music, pictures, etc.) on our computers, it would also be useful to access questionable sites using the TOR onion routing network or proxy servers/sites.

I never conduct any activity that poses even a minimal security risk without using proxies because of my other online hobbies.

Why did I write this?

You may or may not know about the Edison Chen sex scandal in Hong Kong at the moment. It's absolutely huge in East Asia. It's about this actor/singer who saved pictures of his current and former girls/flings on his computer. When he had it repaired, the technicians copied the files and eventually someone named "Kira" put it up for all to see.

Kira is trying to extort these stars (at least three very popular stars are involved) for millions of HK dollars, as the damage is massive though only a fraction of the 1000+ has been uploaded so far.

Read about it here:

Skip to the pr0ns here. They're actually quite hot, and contain full sets. It's worth the download if you're into cute Chinese girls.

Yeah encryption should be a standard when sending sensitive data really. Or when you have lots of stuff to keep under wraps.

Thanks for the uh, heads-up, by the way.

Just thought I ought to include this here.

When the internet is my hard drive, should I trust third parties?

In other words, people with domains or in charge of them should back-up regularly. Data on social communication is still important.
