Ouch. Looks like Mirko got a taste of his own medicine in UFC 70. He received a pretty solid kick to the head care of Gabriel Gonzaga. Lights out.
Then he collapsed under his own weight... twisting his ankle in the process. Badly. You gotta see it to know the extent of twisting, it's pretty hard to describe.

With a twist like that, I won't be surprised if he takes a long time off from competitive fighting. It's like... Shaun Livingston's injury, only on a lesser scale. Haha.

Apparently UFC has bought Pride. Which sucks.
EDIT: Damn, where have I been? This was from March earlier this year..

There's bigger news in the world of MMA though.
Randy Couture, probably MMA's most popular man, and considered to be the 2nd best heavyweight fighter in the world (Only under Fedor Emelianenko himself), is retiring from the UFC.
He's dissatisfied with his pay and with how UFC can't seem to materialize a fight between him and Fedor.
Now Fedor has signed in with some obscure MMA promotions called M-1, I think.

Interesting news. Brock Lesnar is going to start fighting in the UFC. Very interesting indeed.
Finally, we get to see how WWE wrestlers match up against mixed martial artists.

If I remember correctly, the WWE had a non-scripted tournament called Brawl for All which was supposed to feature Dr. Death but was instead won by Bart Gunn. Afterwards, Bart Gunn fought Butterbean the boxer-MMA fighter at Wrestlemania and was knocked out in a few seconds. Bart Gunn disappeared from the WWE soon afterwards.
Ken Shamrock also tried returning to UFC after he was done with the WWE and performed quite badly. We all remember the embarrassment that was the fights with Tito Ortiz. I'm just hoping that Brock Lesnar actually does well. Would have been great if the previously planned fight with Choi Hong-man pushed through though.
(This is what you learn from taking Jujutsu classes with guys) -_-

I think Brock will do okay. He's had over a year to train. Whether he wins or not is another story though.

Yeah real fighting pwns the WWE pretty badly. However, Brock got out of the scripted show business a few years ago, so yeah I think he at least has a chance.

It's done.
Frank Mir defeats Brock Lesnar via Submission (leg lock) at 1:30 in the 1st round by ankle lock.
Brock Lesnar showed a lot of potential though. Frank Mir was bleeding because of the ground strikes, and Lesnar was able to take him down twice, though he was penalized the first time for a strike to the back of the head (and had to let Mir up).
Mir is a former UFC heavyweight champion.

Still waiting for the vids to come out before I can comment. I dunno if 1:30 was quick or just right.

My verdict: that was quick. Brock was nowhere near tired, he had Mir dizzy with those blows. But Brock made the mistake of letting Mir grab his foot. Leg lock from out of nowhere. Fight over.

I got excited and randomly watched a few pretty good vids on YT after watching Georges St. Pierre beat the crap out of Matt Serra in the UFC welterweight title match a few days ago. Thought you guys might be interested.

Yeah Fedor is really something to watch. I have about 2 gigs of his fights on my HD lol. It's amazing how he can come up with those armbars and Kimuras from out of nowhere.
