From TV.com:
A Dragon Ball movie will be produced by 20th Century Fox and, if all goes according to plan, will hit theaters on August 18, 2008, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.
Justin Chatwin, who played Tom Cruise's son in War of the Worlds, will star as the popular main character Son Goku. Playing the film's villain will be James Marsters, best known as Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. James Wong (Final Destination) will direct, and Stephen "Kung Fu Hustle" Chow will produce.
The story follows the superpowered alien Goku, who is sent to Earth as an infant to take the planet over. However, upon realizing his species' intent, Goku has a change of heart and opts to protect the planet from extraterrestrial attacks.
my comments: *brain breaks* so, how will they manage super saiyan? and kamehameha?

If I remember correctly, there was already a live-action Dragon Ball movie in Japan. I think it was based more on the latter part of Dragon Ball rather than Dragon Ball Z. Never watched it though. I just used to see the VHS of it in a rental store when I was a kid (LOL).

I managed to watch that movie about three years ago Nix.
IMO, it sucked a little, but it was worth the laughs.
I don't think it was japanese though, It had the feel of chinese noodles all over it.
If the americans are planning of making one though, then this is the best quote I've seen in this thread so far...

I apologize to our fellow americans if I sounded offensive.

I don't think there's any need to apologize. I think even the Americans know this'll be bad.
Well I really hope they pull it off well like the Transformers... but somehow, I doubt it.

Payag!
But they'll have a hard time finding a batter guy which could function like a cross between Superman and Jackie Chan.

My two thumbs will be on standby for this one, although both of them are saying that they plan on pointing downwards.

Whether this'll suck on reviews or not, I think most of us are still watching it. LOL! It may be a good source of laughs. I wonder if they'll spend half the movie for one kamehameha?
