Warrior - En Garde by Michael A. Stackpole, to be followed by a couple more Battletech books, courtest of the bottom shelf at one of Recto's used book shops.

The Maiden who Travels the Planet by Benny Matsuyama. It's basically Aerith's story as she travels through the Lifestream after her death at the hands of that megalomaniacal bastard. It's just a fan-translated version as the real book was never published internationally.
