Anime Conventions/Cosplay?

so, whats the anime convention scene over in your guys part of the world like?

I live relatively close to Otakon, one of the larger Anime cons in the US.
for me though, the convention isn't just about Anime itself. I love to enter the AMV's I make to the AMV contest. Otakons AMV contest is real massive and popular.

also, how many con attendees here enjoy kicking their nerdiness up a notch by going in costume?
I decided to try going in costume for the first time at Otakon this past weekend, and had crazy amounts of fun because of it.

character I picked was Dr. Frankenstein from the anime soul eater.....

I'm extremely happy with how the costume came out, especially since its the first time I ever made one. here I am in costume at the convention.....

sadly its the only pic I have of myself. but a lot of people took my picture, so I'm hoping to find more pics of me online soon.
