It's not an imposition for me. Getting a GF or a best friend would certainly be better than not having one depending on how you handle it. That or because I never had one before 
. Maybe they're just curious as to why you don't have one before?
That said, imposing religion by parents is something I'm a bit annoyed about, but I do understand their position regarding the mater. I don't have to like it, but I understand why they want to, and I believe that's the key to having stable relationships.
