iPods/iPhones themselves are pretty nifty. But I hate using iTunes on Windows (and I most especially hate the smug condescending looks on the faces of many people using Apple products =/).
Recommendations will depend on what exactly your gf wants from the device. Is it simply used as a music player? Or does she really need the whole range of connectivity and media capabilities?
