No AC4 era!
AC: Master of Arena - This was a better training game than what Ninebreaker hoped to achieve for, and I still play this via emulator. Somewhat addicting, despite the aging graphics.
AC3 and AC3: Silent Line - For some reason this was the "perfect" Armored Core for me. This one really made me feel how appropriate the overall concept was; the environment, atmosphere, and the soundtrack was perfect in its own way. LR still tops this one in terms of gameplay, but this game's grand presentation is still much better than any AC game imo. Possibly the reason why I think NX sucked big time because of the lame presentation of the game and the failure in gameplay-balancing.
AC: Last Raven - Something that used to be RR's bread-and-butter. Talk about adding an arseload of parts (most of which aren't entirely useless), adding diversity in AC designing.
