Fox, whatever does you more good, that's the way to go. I can't seriously tell how to react there 'cause I haven't ever been employed (officially) yet, so here's a piece of my mind instead.
If you're gonna hit 'em hard and leave, well, work is still income. If you've got a back up employment gig, or (what Nix and Mix said), then it'd be best to have a good conversation with the higher-ups about how well your team used to be because of the supervisor's "weakness". Then kick the bucket and give them a finger too.
