if you have a router, don't use it and directly connect the ps3 to the ethernet cable as bandwidth must be dedicated to the download. Dont download in the background and do those other suggestion just to make sure, but the main cause of this is the speed of the net as you are downloading a big file it cause to lag and files are corrupted in the proceedure.
Or try bringing your rig to someone you know that has a powerthirst connection that can DL large files at a short ammount of time.

Thanks for the tips. Like the guy in the forum topic you linked, I've successfully downloaded larger files before (Mirror's Edge demo - 800 MB, Siren Episode 1 - 1 GB), even while torrents were running in the other PCs in the house, and they installed fine. I'm having trouble with a specific game, in this case Tekken.
Wireless is really the only option for the PS3 due to the layout of my house, so the only way I have left will be to download it directly, not in the background. I really hope that works.
