Shame of the Game

Maybe we should just put up a stick thread for all game-related social criticism and discussion topics.

Maybe this could be it. Hooray for thread subtitles haha.

While the author did put in some good points like how easy being prejudiced is, most of them are pretty relational, owing much to his own connections and not of a general consensus, risking alienation from the reader (Quake made him ill?). He had a good start but then personally lost me somewhere BADD and the sidetrip into fundies.

It was also pretty unsettling that he wrote this against a self-confession of having come from a bullied backround. Obviously he's biased and we can all deal with that, but at what point is all this just some measure of his own coping mechanism and not really a general thought process on the issue of dealing with a so-called embarassing hobby?
