I think you're overestimating RR's penchant to go into a flying fury of blind rage over gaming XD For one, we're (generally) too old to do that.
I also think that the drubbing Ms. Lawrence got was more of an example of mob mentality on the internet, such as what happened in the Megan Meier Myspace suicide, the Co$ vs anon wars and the stupid thief that uploaded pics of himself using the stolen iMac.
I don't think Fox qualifies as news
They're the propaganda channel for the GOP though, because it's good business for Mr. Murdoch.
On another note, I agree with Apple that the essay was poorly written and needlessly verbose. Maybe we should just put up a sticky thread for all game-related social criticism and discussion topics.
