To put it bluntly, I've met a good share of gamers who've reacted quite violently to the recent strings of criticism regarding their hobby.
One good example being what happened to Cooper Lawrence. Shortly after her appearance on Fox News to criticize (and to be frank, it was a horribly misinformed critique) BioWare's Mass Effect title, gamers who had seen the segment retaliated by bombing the reviews of her books on Amazon.com.
Sure, it got the message across that they didn't agree with her point, but it also reflected on the sort of mob mentality that could kick in the community was pushed too far.
I guess you could say that I just wanted to post this thread here in the hopes that should events like this reach us, we won't end up jumping the gun as well.
Besides, nobody forced you to read all that, although I'm thankful that you endured the read.
