Quite exactly as you described it. The water container on radiator on my car is colored gold/yellow, so it did spit cheese-like particles on my engine. Well, the radiator didn't totally explode, just a portion of it but its big enough to cause a leak. The mechanic said that the problem was because of a faulty thermo-switch which should start up the cooling fan after the car engine reaches a certain temperature. Apparently it died, therefore the radiator fan failed to start, causing the radiator to remove the engine heat properly.
I suffered, quite literally in AC terms... A Blow-out. Radiator failed in cooling, engine died because of heat.
