I got to the ending through playing the game on Nestopia once... but that took me, what? 6 to 7 hours? Them birds are freaking unfair. You jump to the next platform and one bird just happens to conveniently fly past. Boom, you fall to your death.
Now I know the secret though, it's to run like Ryu's never run before!
