I do it sometimes whenever I'm indecisive.
In anycase, there's nothing between you two now since it has been a while. I know its hard to talk to the person you once knew a well (ahem!) after breaking off like that, but give it time and it'll all work out and the feeling of awkwardness will be gone.
Here's to make things interesting (I like to make things interesting). Ask her if you could bring a friend with you and check for her reaction. Then work your way there. If she says yes, then its pretty safe to say that you're just friends now. If no, then you guys definitely need some closure in your relationship, but fear not, be cool about it and it'll all work well.
