I'm sure a lot of you want to know my reasons for playing this game. Ok, you can blame my cousin for showing this game to me. It was back in the summer of 2001 and i had just finished playing through Xenogears for the second time. This cousin of mine asked me what it was that drew me to the game, the storyline or the mecha.
I answered that the relationship between Fei and Elly was one of the key factors why i was taken with the game and that the gears were just a part of the story for me. The mech designs were interesting and for the most part, reminded me of Evangelion (anyone ever noticed the resemblance between Weltall and EVA Unit 01), which i used to watch until the story got too confusing. Anyway, he then asked me if i would be interested in a a game in which i could play as a mecha that i designed myself. My curiosity was aroused (get your minds outta the gutter! > ) and i said "sure, why not."
A couple of hours later, i was in a virtual garage trying to figure out which leg parts would look good on the core i had chosen, what arm parts would complement the head part i equipped, what colors would go with each other and so on and so forth. I admit that the designs i build are more for aesthetic appeal than for actual functionality but they're good enough for me. I never knew an obscure title would give me that much fun. It was more of an acquired taste but Master of Arena and the amount of customization it contained had me glued to the TV for weeks afterwards.
I've played Master of Arena, a little bit of Armored Core 2, Armored Core 3 and Last Raven. PS2 discs are a bit hard to find here in Vigan and if there are any, well Armored Core isn't exactly one of the mainstream games and those were the only titles i've found. I asked my uncle to get me a copy of Last Raven sometime in september. I've been playing it since then, have beaten the five endings but still haven't taken down Zinaida. I doubt i ever will though, she's just too unfair. -_-
Well, that's my story. Sorry if i'm kinda chatty but then again, i did major in English studies. Yeah, very strange that someone like me would play video games. Even stranger that i like these kinds of games. Ha, the world does move in mysterious ways and i'm not your average, ordinary female. Deal with it.

I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots And the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick — It even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh — Even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you — Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.
