Build a PC
and other games too XD

for those who are playing it, can you post your PC specs as well as how fast the game runs on your PC? please also include at what quality level you have the game on.

thinking of taking some cash out of my savings to assemble a rig that can run this game. wanted to have an idea of what specs i'd need. budget is 20k to 30k.

theres a guy at work who's really into assembling PCs but he's also our ass-istant operations manager. yeah, the same asshole with his ninja policies. id rather not deal with him or owe him a favor for helping me assemble a rig >.>

thanks in advance.

My laptop runs it fine (50-60fps with minimal lag) on "ultra" (best settings) mode at 720p via HDMI out to TV.
It's about a year (and a few months) old.

Specs:
* Intel Core i5-430M Processor 2.26 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz
* 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 2 SODIMM 8GB Max
* 500GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Wi-Fi 802.11 bgn
* 15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 LED LCD Display; NVidia GTS 360M Graphics Engine with 1GB DDR5 dedicated VRAM

Anything equivalent or better should be alright. Smile

just did a quick check on TPC for those parts. 25k isnt going to cut it. will need to save up more. thanks for the replies tho. i'll keep note of the specs for when i eventually assemble a unit.

as for getting a ps3 and a monitor, while it will fit the 25k budget, this will mean i wont be able to play the other PC games i have already acquired Sad plus i dont have room for it.

Wow, that graphics card is cheap. Is it worth it in the long run? I'm looking for a new card kasi, and I only have 3k, more or less.

Price-wise, is the GFX card that you listed in there the best choice, Jin?

Shouldn't this thread be in the Tech section instead? It's basically advice for a gaming PC and a thread like that's been posted in that section before.

its better if you just shop the parts from gilmore. prices in TPC aren't always the lowest price. here i did some window shopping for you bud

phenom x6 is a six core processor. it doesn't have much difference from i7-990x if you're just gonna use it for gaming and GT430 has equal shaders with GTX 460. these specs are enough to let you play ANY game in max settings

as for the keyboard and mouse. you can just go to cd-r king buy the bundle for 300php

awesome!! many many thanks JiN. i already set the money aside tho. but i'll try to get these parts over time.

Skyrim doesn't take much to play with decent framerate. My iMac runs it at 2560x1440 with pretty much everything maxed except I don't use any anti-aliasing whatsoever, and it's nowhere near a dedicated gaming box. The models are so fine that aa isn't needed either.

i7 860 @ 2.8ghz
mobility 4850 w/512mb gddr3 vram
16gb 1066hz ram.

Average framerate, 30fps.

Any entry level custom box that's around 500usd should be able to more than max that game out.

currently saving up money to get me a rig just like Jin recommended to zero more or less half way there XD ... but know I wonder

would it be better if I get that (Jin's custom rig) or get a laptop at generally the same price, will perform only at half of what a pc can do, but is something I can carry?

My 6 year old PC just died yesterday, so now I'm in the market for a new PC. >_<

I'm not that familiar with the latest PC parts, so I'll need some help. Could you guys recommend to me an all-arounder rig for about P25,000.00, including the monitor? It doesn't have to be top-of-the-line, but just current.

If you could specify which parts to get, that'd be great too.

Halp!

Ill see if I can canvas something for you. Anything you can salvage from the Old PC like HDD and Disc Drives?

The RAM, vid card, DVD drive, and HDD should still be ok. But they're all kinda outdated anyway, so might as well upgrade them.

The rig doesn't have to be super powerful, btw. In all likelihood, it'll be my mom who'll use it most of the time for just browsing the internet. I'm not a PC gamer, btw! But I might as well make it so that it can play Diablo 3 as well.

edit: And how're the prices from PC Express? If they aren't that far off from Gilmore prices, I'd like to just buy from there.

I can't remember the exact spot but there's a shop between SM North and Munoz to claims that have prices even lower than Gilmore's.

I seem to have been rusty with all the new parts this year. Any second opinions are welcome. I chose Intel since you can easily upgrade to newer Chipsets without changing the motherboard.
