Piracy

If you really believe that, Mark (edit: and everyone else, me included), then you better be consistent about it. Tongue

Stop reading scanlated manga. Stop downloading mp3s. Stop getting obscure games from the torrents. Stop using pirated software in general. =P

yeah, that COULD work, but even if we do sympathize with the people who can't really afford to buy these yet, don't you think that they should be more responsible and think for the greater good, and not just themselves? pirating stuff affects a LOT of other people, like the ones working on the games, distributors, etc.

Like i said, it's not that they don't deserve to play them, everyone is entitled to-but think of the immense effects it would have to other people first. people WILL start losing their jobs if their respective companies earn less, and these people have kids to feed. Students, in general, don't have such responsibilities yet. So if they can't afford the games YET, then save up for it, find a better bargain, ask their siblings to share, ask their parents if they can help out. There are a myriad of options available to them, and not just pirate.

If one really wants to perform or get something, they would find all the ways to do so, although piracy is one of the not so good ways as its aftereffects are not only limited to yourself.

@ nix, I'm working on it. :p

I'll hold you to that. You can start by tossing out all your PS2 discs. =P

hahaha. what. those were products from when i was a kid. no. haha

then again, I started this "original onli" gig from the ps3 (partially the pc for our rts games), so cut me some slack.

No, be consistent about it.

Throw out your porn too. Did you pay for any of those? What about those poor pornstars and their studios, distributors, etc? You're taking away money that's rightfully theirs! They'll go broke and lose their jobs. How will they feed their kids and send them to school? The children... think of the children, Mark Jason Ting. Sad

I buy 'original' games that I want, the ones that aren't ripoff, and for the sake of collecting/owning it.

Other than that, I could care less about the PS3 being affected because of piracy; the whole place is usually filled with generic FPS games anyway. I'll just leave an ambiguous take on the PS2's games though. Can't really help it if most of the PS2s are modified. LOL

About piracy: The scanlated manga thing doesn't really apply to me I think because I don't read manga online, but the comics I do have (DC) are all original. Most of the music I listen to are lossless rips from original CDs I own because I don't like 128kbps music as the audio hardware I use reveals the lossy encoding. I do have some pirated mainstream stuff though. Indie, I almost always buy original. PSP games are pirated (aside from MH!!! BUY MH!!) , PS2 games too. People can get preachy all they want with me but I don't really care as I think the balance I'm maintaining is sufficient. Porn can disappear, don't really care about it.

Just because one isn't able to pay for a game doesn't mean that they doesn't deserve to play it. Would it be better instead to have publishers decrease their prices to what may be considered acceptable to people in developing countries instead? As it stands, they charge for the same price wherever the game is sold, and they're not capturing potential markets in developing countries.

Aren't region 3 games significantly cheaper already?
