What's your favorite AC game
#1
My favorite AC game is Silent Line because this was the game where my AC skills truly grew. It was also one of the more balanced AC games.

LR is a really close second for me right now though.

Hehe that's great, Ravenflau. Huwag ka lang magpawili sa Human+... it's like a drug. It'll slowly consume your mind. Heheh.

A warm welcome to the Raven's Republic, by the way. Wink

Silent Line rocks. But only because I haven't played Another Age yet. Wink

Silent Line, as most AC players will tell you (and as NiX already has), is one of the most balanced games in the series. Every part is useable, and most designs stand an actual chance. There are snipers in this game. There are shotgunners. There are real midweights, there are real heavies. There are tournament-worthy RJs. There are OBing quads. There are useful hovers that actually stay afloat for the whole match. There are tanks (but yeah, tanks have always been one of the most balanced legsets in the game IMO).

Only thing that screws it up is this famed i-Link lag, making it completely unviable for tournament play (at least from what I've heard, I haven't seen this lag myself).

Oh yeah... OB is supremely fun in this game. Big grin

Is it just me, or does it seem like you can vote for numerous games in the poll?
EDIT: Yes, you can. Tongue Next time, piliin mo Single Choice(1) dun sa drop down box na nakikita kapag gumagawa ng poll.

Bottom line is... Silent Line rocks. You all need it. Tongue

LR sa akin, second yung SL.

The Part breaking concept is really awesome and can turn the tide of battle XD

Too bad it didn't have the balance like SL had

Guess im the first to vote for ninebreaker... ahehehe... well for me it's the best because it makes you better in my opinion... its not really missions but a set of obstacle courses designed to make your piloting better... eventhough you might think it's pointless or stupid... it does tackle the fundamentals of you piloting and exposes your weaknesses eventhough how insignificant it may be... but in AC it's unpredictable... those little weaknesses can be used against you... so Ninebreaker for me all the way... Ehem Ehem TOP GUN for AC Fans!!!! need i say more?

I've just about had it with LR. It sucks in comparison to the older games that came before the Nexus engine. The limited part selection, the wonky game mechanics in general. To compound it even further, all this reading up on AC4's awesomeness is driving me crazy. Plus I know I'll have to wait a while before I actually get my hands on it. But as with all things, there's always a workaround.

So I looked to the current platform for the best AC games on it. What did I find to my liking? Another Age, AC3 and Silent Line. Sadly, I only have but one of those. Ideally, that really shouldn't be a problem, as one AC game should (ideally) take months to fully enjoy with the right competition. But alongside the fact that I have no real consistent humans to go up against (I'm talking everyday here), I think what's really keeping me from having fun on SL is that it's all in Type B. Man, I'll have to have some serious perseverance to switch back after all this time of Type A. But it can be done. The reward of fun at the end alone is enough to push me on.

Also, I've been watching AA vids of The Watcher lately, and damn, the game is amazing. Not only because of the great play of one of the best snipers in the game, but also because everything I love about AC is present there and accounted for, to a degree which I think is even more fun than Silent Line itself (because of the absence of lefty weapons).

NEED MOAR AA.

LR would have been long dead to me if we all didn't use it for playing.[/rant]

1. Armored Core(PSX). I love it ever since I first bought it back in 1999. And even now I still play it via emulator. The old days were truly great! And I loved the ranking system. Loved seeing ravens rise and fall in the ranks(Randomly). The Nexus ranking lacked this though. And most of the time 90% or so of the ACs in that game had their points fixed. Sucks!

2. Armored Core MOA
3. Armored Core Last Raven
4. Armored Core Nexus
5. Armored Core Nine Breaker

Good to hear someone likes the very original, where it all began. Big grin

EDIT: Wow. Again, my earlier posts in this topic embarass me. Except the part about AA. That game's awesome.

I have a deep appreciation for MOA, AA, SL, and LR. The other games, I just didn't play as much. Tongue

No AC4 era! LOL

AC: Master of Arena - This was a better training game than what Ninebreaker hoped to achieve for, and I still play this via emulator. Somewhat addicting, despite the aging graphics.

AC3 and AC3: Silent Line - For some reason this was the "perfect" Armored Core for me. This one really made me feel how appropriate the overall concept was; the environment, atmosphere, and the soundtrack was perfect in its own way. LR still tops this one in terms of gameplay, but this game's grand presentation is still much better than any AC game imo. Possibly the reason why I think NX sucked big time because of the lame presentation of the game and the failure in gameplay-balancing.

AC: Last Raven - Something that used to be RR's bread-and-butter. Talk about adding an arseload of parts (most of which aren't entirely useless), adding diversity in AC designing.

Yeah i've read your posts about AA. I've been checking out vids of it lately. Looks cool. But, im wondering if it is as fast paced as the original? I need a more hands on feedback. Smile

I am planning to download it. I just hope I can find good torrents for it. Last Raven took me a month to download btw... XD

I have to agree with you in MOA. And best thing about it as well is you can make your own custom arena and you can also tune the AI to your liking. I wonder why FROM never implemented it on Last Raven. I mean Last Raven was only 2 gigs big! they could have still added more data. Man, last AC game in the PS2 and nothing spectacular. At least they made some balances. Which made gameplay more interesting and Branching storyline ftw.

Hmm, they say Silent Line was the hardest AC game ever. With the introduction of destructible parts and stuff. Made it extremely hostile for newbs.

MoA FOREVER!

Finished it 6 times in a row! In 6 days straight! Then I played Ninebreaker. The motion sickness... Brings back memories.

AC3 is my favorite still. only so many things to work with. No clone weapons like in SL. Simplicity yet still good.

A dead thread, but my 2 cents.

AA would've been perfect if it had an Arena.

God I miss those napalm missiles... I, want, my FREAKING NAPALM MISSILES!!!

Otherwise, LR. It has that really gritty feel with Heat/Energy Mechanics, plus I've wished for Left Arm Guns, and Rockets for ever. Nice little utility weapons for mission mode that don't need a lock to fire and don't require a wave blade to use at range. Great replacement for a laser blade if you don't mind the bump in the ammo bill.

Then Silent Line, my only real gripe is the ridiculous S Rank requirements and the shittiest protect missions in the series (I'm looking at you Rooftop Defense!)

Otherwise, solid games all of them. I didn't get much Multi-Player with limited friends, all with limited patience.

That and I bought the Gamecube instead of the PS2. Never said Nintendo again... ever.

My fetish for Ground Torpedoes might have biased this list too... that and Nine-Breaker is mostly a boot-camp, and I feel the best training is on the battlefield with opponents that shoot back.
You want a war? You got one, but you might not be so happy you did.
