We have a Canon PowerShot A480.

It's as versatile as your usual digicam, 10Mp max, 3.3xzoom.

It's a good buy for cheap, roughly 10k. Not as compact as the Cyber-Shot series though.

Digicams are obviously for the more casual pictures. But they can take great photos that are on part with some SLR shots as well, if the person holding the camera knows what they're doing. I've seen my friend take very nice panoramas, and capture great-looking saturated color pics by just playing around with the settings.

Right now I'm thinking of getting an IXUS 870 IS, its around 14k.

Thanks. I haven't read up on your suggestions, but I'll start looking up on them in a bit.

I bought the IXUS 870 IS in HK btw. It's pretty impressive for a compact.

Also, took some shots of Vancouver with new camera from the hotel I'm staying in for the meantime.

Wrote a blog entry, and more pictures, here: http://bit.ly/J0tAD

I took another night shot after the fireworks competition tonight (today's the last day). The glowing blue bridge at the background is Lion's Gate Bridge, Vancouver's version of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Also wrote an entry about the stuff I did today here: http://shinypebble.livejournal.com/370720.html

This might turn into a "Sforza in Canada" thread Ninja

Edit (for technical blahblah): Just realized that the image quality isn't as good as the previous night shots because this picture was taken at auto mode, 400 iso. Normally compacts only produce decent (printable) image quality at 200 iso or less. Basically iso = sensitivity setting to light

wait til you encounter the herbs....hoo hoo hoo
Jake if you have some free time i recommend watching this:
Escape to Canada Part 1 of 9 --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unZa9IgT0eo

It talks alot about Vancouver...and what's good is you're already there!
*time warp edit*
***oh lol i'm already there too!***

Seriously though, it is very interesting....it really shows that Canada is the land of the free unlike US who lives in the illusion of it...*for now*...US needs to wake up...Canada needs to step up! If the herb will be legalized...IT WILL TAKE PLACE in CANADA! Then maybe it'll have a ripple effect throughout the world...

New video of the view from the hotel room. I took it before checking out because I didn't want to, but it was too expensive to continue staying Sad

The view looks really nice up there. Not much trace of smoke above the city. Happy

Ready to be displayed!

The pictures were a bit rushed because I wanted to touch the figure already, so the quality isn't so good LOL
