Andrei Arlovski, considered one of the top 5 heavyweight fighters, was KO'd at 0:22 of the first round by Brett Rogers in today's Strikeforce event. Hope you get to watch before the video is taken down.

Phil Baroni (the anti-nerd guy) was also on the show. He got his ass beat by Joe Riggs.

From this interview.
NS: Are you a nerd at heart, like play video games or read comics?
PB: Fuck no. I hate that shit with a passion. I think it’s gay as fuck and a waste of time.
NS: Do you have any advice for the nerds on how to get girls?
PB: Do steroids, lift heavy weights, get contacts, go tanning. And stop playing all those gay fucking video games. You can’t get pussy in front of a TV playing games with your geeky friends. Go out to night clubs and bars, hit the beach. If you got money, floss. Whatever you do, don’t be yourself.
...And he follows it up in this interview!
CP: But you did tell NerdSociety.com a couple months back that to get girls, nerdy guys should do steroids, lift weights, get contacts, go tanning, and stop playing all those gay fucking video games. Do you stand by that advice?
PB: Yeah. Those fuckin’ nerds playing video games aren’t gonna be fighting in the UFC, so it doesn’t matter if they do steroids, because they’re not cheating anyone. They’re cheating themselves by being fuckin’ computer geeks, playing fuckin’ videos games all the time. They’re cheating themselves out of life. Maybe a little testosterone would help them, they’re obviously fuckin’ low on it naturally. I’m not advocating it to kids, I’m advocating it to geeks. You’re 20 years old and you’re still playing fuckin’ video games and going on Internet forums, you gotta change something, dude. Something’s gotta fuckin’ give.
This is ideal image which he wants for nerds
One of the typical American stereotypes of the "tough bad-ass, STUPID guy" that pisses me off to no end. haha LOL

Sorry about posting a lot on the MMA thread lately. It's just that there's so much that's been happening, and a lot of it has been notable. A lot of very nice finishes too.
MMA in August Looks Tremendous
Quote:Not to jinx it, but August is set to be one of the best months in MMA history. We're getting a number of fights people have anticipated for years, along with really neat fights like Gina-Cyborg and Forrest-Anderson. Rather than comment further, I'll just list the fights for everyone to salivate over after the jump to remind everyone why competition is a welcome thing in MMA.
What I'm looking forward to a lot:
8/1 (Affliction 3):
Josh Barnett vs. Fedor Emelianenko
Gerard Mousasi vs. Babalu Sobral
8/8 (UFC 101):
BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian
Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin
8/9 (WEC 42):
Miguel Torres vs. Brian Bowles
8/15 (Strikeforce):
Gina Carano vs. Cyborg Santos
Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers
8/29 (UFC 102):
Randy Couture vs. Antonio Nogueira
Demian Maia vs. Nate Marquardt
A few more really nice KO's c/o Jose Aldo's knees. The 2nd one was over in about 8 seconds into the 1st round. Fight was today.

Cage Potato has a series of articles out on the evolving eras of MMA.
http://www.cagepotato.com/eras-mma-part-3-modern-age
The article is divided into weight divisions, such as:
"The Fedor Emelianenko Era"
"The GSP Era"
"The Anderson Silva Era"
... and "The Machida Era?"
Complete with good highlight vids. The Fedor one is really good.
@Nix: Quickest way to describe Miguel Torres is that he's basically the bantamweight Fedor Emelianenko

You'll also love this. Oh my God.

Remember Tim Sylvia? He was considered to be a top 5 heavyweight in MMA until he got beaten by Fedor in 36 seconds. Regardless, he was still considered to be a top 10 heavyweight until he got beat this weekend by Ray Mercer, a 48-year old former world champion boxer in 9 seconds, UNDER MMA RULES.

I remember reading a quote somewhere that went along the lines of "fighters sometimes aren't the same person anymore after being beat that way by Fedor."
...Arlovski and Sylvia both got beat by Fedor in the past few months. They both lost in the first round in fights (after Fedor) they were supposed to win easily.

Poor Tim Sylvia. That's a broken man right there. He's done.
Mix, yeah nabasa ko na yun dati. There's just no winning against a man with that kind of motivation.
