FALLOUT III
into the wasteland....

Any of you play the game? I enjoyed a lot playing the game, the atmosphere is really something different *even beats GTA IV in terms of "evilness"with the things you could do* and i'm glad that it was done well from top down point and click style to 3d shooter. You could really play the game like a shooter and turn based rpg depending on your tactics.

I was a bit scared of buying this game, because I thought I would fall deeply into it and have a hard time getting away.

Now that I did, my fears were true. This game is addicting. Big grin

Damn it, Grim. I had to buy this game just for the sake of toying with the power armor.

For some reason, I wonder why Bethesda Softworks never did something like this.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YPUiFs98cC4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YPUiFs98cC4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Check out the cutscenes at 2:14-2:44 and 4:01 onwards. Instead Bethsoft gives everybody a bunch of buggy stuff and short DLCs, even their latest DLC aka Broken Steel is absolutely BORKEN with their latest patch, you'll even need to reinstall everything just to downgrade and fix that crap. It would've been better imo if they didn't focus too much on exploration than npc interaction.

I got the PS3 one so no DLC for me. Sad times.

As for addiction...we'll I've finished the game about 6-7 times now. Have 2 other playthrus running right now. Neutral girl with emphasis on small guns, energy guns, and AntAgonizer suit only...and Evil guy using Linden's Outcast Power Armor, big guns, and unarmed only.

Addiction? what addiction? I can quit whenever I want. Smile

My character's on good karma, focusing on small guns and energy weapons. Just got the Ranger Battle Armor, and it is sweet Smile
Working my way to attaining Lincoln's Repeater and Harkness' special plasma rifle. Already got the firelance (by dumb luck it seems).

Firelance is always "dumb luck." There's no real way to trigger the event to make it happen. It can actually get triggered away from you...which means that gun lands somewhere out of your sight. Thus, you might never even knew the event occurred. Sucky.

It only happens once per playthru, too. Luckily the gun is the strongest one in the game (aside from Alien Blaster...which is basically the same thing anyways).

Pretty much. I've had around 160 hours playing my first data and around 40-50 hours in my other save files, and yet I haven't experienced that crashing UFO encounter. I just had to use the console to get it. LOL

Did you guys try walking around the Barn and silo near vault 101? I read that the crash consistently happens in that area.

Those are both random event trigger spots. That's why. It's kinda weird but there's several spots in the game that spawn "random events." Generally, you just gotta go to the area, wander around it til it triggers an RE spawn, and just wait to see what the RE spawn ends up being. One of them is, of course, the firelance. I heard there was one for a giant ant but I've never seen that one. I'm not even sure it's real.

Not so random when you know where the spawn points are, I guess, haha. But firelance actually does have one of the lowest (if not the lowest) encounter frequency.

Oh...the spot around Vault 101 can frequently trigger the sniper RE. I forget his name...Sam Warrick I believe. That can be a pain when you're just coming out of the Vault but it can also pay off big. Kinda neat. What was the other really weird one...oh yeah. At the Super Mart sometimes the wounded deathclaw vs. man with schematic will spawn. Really dangerous early on but it does get you the schematic and toughest ingredient to one of the best weapons in the game really early.
