In case some of you don't know this yet, this is how to optimize firefox for broadband.

Quote:1. Open Firefox, and type about:config in the address bar. Don’t worry about the warning that comes out.
2. Use the filter above to find network.http.pipelining and set it to True by double clicking on it.
3. Create a new boolean value named network.http.pipelining.firstrequest and set that to True, as well.
4. Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, double click on it, and change its value to 8.
5. Now look for network.http.proxy.pipelining and again set it to True.
6. Create two new integers named nglayout.initialpaint.delay and content.notify.interval, setting them to 0.

Now restart your browser and check a few heavy-loading websites to see if those changes worked or not.

Cool new plug-in for Firefox that lets you edit images. You can even import the web page you're viewing for editing!

Just wondering, what's the difference between optimized and non-optimized foxy browsers?

Supposedly, with the default setting, Firefox only makes requests to a web page one at a time. With the optimized settings, it'll be able to make multiple requests. And then there's also this built-in delay which is removed here. All these delays are supposed to help dial-uppers using Firefox. The settings above are supposed to optimize firefox for broadband. Just google and you'll see lots of other tutorials.

If you don't want to muck around with about:config, you can also just search for an add-on called "Tweak Network". It should do pretty much the same thing, but automatically.

Firefox 4.0 just released! I'm liking it so far. Snappier and more screen space!

same here Clapping

...but RR still takes forever to load LOL

For those who are having a hard time reading the fonts on their new browser,
try setting "gfx.direct2d.disabled" to true in about:config then restart ff4.
Apparently ff4 uses windows7's flawed direct2d for enabling hardware acceleration.
Unless m$oft fixes this problem, mine will stay disabled. Glare
This quick fix btw doesn't fully disable the hardware acceleration feature of ff4 Happy

It's all great so far except that RAM usage seems to have increased even more. Oh, and switching the places of "open link in new tab" and "open link in new window" is really messing up my clicking habits. LOL But I'm really happy that it doesn't take a decade to load like FF3.6 did.
