Rick Astley coming for concert Aug. 1!!!
Close on the heels of the parade of foreign artists performing here, '80s pop icon Rick Astley is also coming for a concert in Aug. 1 at the Big Dome.
Astley fans can expect their idol to sing his hit songs, including Together Forever and Never Gonna Give You Up, on the show called Rick Astley: Here and Now, produced by Mossimo Music and DMC Philippines.

Born Richard Paul Astley in Lancashire, England, Astley made an impact with his first solo outing, Never Gonna Give You Up, which was released in 1987. The song was an instant success, spending five weeks at the top of the British charts and becoming that year's highest-selling single. Never Gonna Give You Up also topped the singles chart in the US, followed by a second number-one hit in Together Forever.
In 1991, Astley cemented his growing reputation when he was nominated for a Grammy award as Best New Artist of the Year.
Astley specialized in bouncy dance pop, but showed he was just as good at ballads when he released 1991's Cry For Help, which reached the top of the charts in both the UK and the US. It proved to be a good year for Astley, because in 1991, he had another major hit with Whenever You Need Somebody, which sold two million copies.
To date, Astley's total record sales have reached almost 40 million worldwide. His latest release, The Ultimate Collection: Rick Astley, which hit the market in April 2008, has already reached #17 on the UK Top 40 albums chart and is still going.
He's even become an Internet phenomenon-in 2007, an anonymous poster tricked an estimated 25 million users into watching a video of Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. The video was on endless repeat, giving rise to a phenomenon now known as "Rickrolling."
