Rant - coffee, as a stimulant, is no longer in my vocabulary. It's just a faintly bitter drink that burns my tongue but does little to perk me up.

Maybe you drink it too quickly. Most people tend to crash like at the end of a sugar high if they try to sustain the initial high. What I do is take double espressos instead, since they have about as much caffeine as four cups of coffee. Afterwards, don't drink again until you absolutely must do so or crash on your keyboard! Just don't take more than 20 shots in one night, as it might earn you a visit to a trippy place called the hospital ER.

Not really. I take a cup and a half at the start of the shift and another during each break. So that's three and a half per night. I still get sleepy at after the first break. Plus the first installment takes me around 3-5 mins to down, so i'm pretty sure i'm not taking it in too quickly.

I once heard that finishing off around four liters of Coke can have the same effect as the aforementioned twenty shots of coffee. Is that true?

Oh yeah, i just discovered that the ignition mechanism of electric lighters has more of a wake-up effect on me now than coffee does. Absolutely stimulating!

Yep, coke works just like coffee, especially if you drink THAT much. -_- Just say hello to diabetes for me.

The reason that coffee isn't working for you anymore is that you're drinking it too often. Your body is already used to the caffeine. Try drinking something different every other day, like Milo or Tea (or Red Bull, Extra Joss, etc. ).

Well, nothing strange about that. That's why they say "Coffee or Tea, sir?" They're both high in caffeine anyway.

As for slapping your own face, I think there are better ways to wake yourself up.
