LR: The Silky

<!--QuoteBegin-Goatling+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Goatling)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->BTW, SILKY is JUNK!!&nbsp; Don't use it because it's CRAPPY.

The Silky has a:

Horrible spray
Horrible drain
Horrible type
Horrible shit.

But dual SILKY?&nbsp; Haven't tried it.[/quote:6ddcbf1d57]

This thread is a response to Goatling's post in the artworks forum...

So how usable is the Silky?

I know for a fact that as a right hand weapon, there are far better choices. However, how is it as a left hand weapon?

As for dual silkies:
Since a single Silky already has such an immense usage drain, it's logical to think that there's no realistic way to continuously fire TWO Silkies at the same time... Even KUJAKU on a low-drain frame may not be enough. Tongue

Has anyone ever tried making a dual-Silky AC on a low-drain frame sporting JIREN, PHAGE and GOLGI? It might be worth a shot. (though I'm sure there will always be more practical choices for weapons)

Discuss.

It will be in my right arm if im going to use it. It is usable, but having two is not sustainable. Even using kujaku will just put you in harms way.

here's slamscape using silky on the left arm
<a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ2iWsdG7dg' target='_blank'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ2iWsdG7dg</a>

after watching the video, i realized the spray aint bad, just use it in it's most effective range .
the only downside really is the DRAIN.

Giving it a chance eh?

Eh, like jonevangelist now and what I said before, that drain value completely destroys it as a machine gun in almost all generators, except maybe for the Kongoh and Kujaku. Maybe Orchid as well.

The problem is, no competitive design has any real need for those generators. Kongoh maybe, but that'd be pushing it. G91 and Fudoh are good choices though. Lotus, it gets pretty hard to do, while trying to stay mobile.

When paired with those generators however, it's pretty decent enough I guess. G91 + Silky is pretty workable. You just have to get used to the fact that the most you're going to fire it in rapid succession is about 5-7 shots.

Finally, a thread for the SILKY! Tongue I wonder why no one made this thread before.

I'll test this thing later, but is it gonna pack up well if you're facing someone with a solid MG?

I've used it on my left arm, and I found it works best with the Kongoh. You don't use it like an mg though, more like a rifle, only fire about 3-4 shots at a time. its not very useful though.

The SILKY has poor usage drain that rivals the SHADE per shot, weighs a lot, and does pretty much what the M2 MG does, only worse.

I would use the SILKY IF:

1. It had a usage drain less than 500 points.
2. It does not spread its shots at all. (I mean, is the beam lens on that gun wobbly?)
3. Greater than 200 points of ammo (I'd say the same for other MGs like the M2 considering their stats right now.)

the original reason I wanted to use the silky was to relive my MoA days but it only took me one time trying it out to find its hardly worth it >_< Im sticking with the shade ... damn why did they do that to the silky anyway???

Sounds like you want a toned down MG-500/E...

Same here Lord Rick...

We have no idea...

Anyway...
A few things From could have done or substituted for an energy machinegun:

An energy machine gun with lesser drain will really solve those problems. Since most competitive models choose mobility and agility for firepower, having weapons that consumes a lot of energy can be a real downside.

Hmmnnn.... how about an energy version of FINGER?

Thought of that already...
Unfortunately, it would mean 5 times the drain...

lol but it'll look good Woot ( it should be more powerful too so that probably its up side ... can you say five finger karasawa)

So DRAIN is definitely a problem. How about creating weapons using energy rounds that is powered by replaceable battery or reactor cells that is within the weapon itself?

Just to take off too much load on the AC's generator?

The downside could be the weight also....hmnnn,...

One way is possibly to increase the weapon's equip drain to reduce its usage drain...

I have an idea for an energy weapon similar to the finger, but instead of being a machinegun, it's better off being a spread laser...

EDIT:
I think shell weapons have equip drains because the stat is needed or related to the energy needed to lift the weapon...

Not sure about it though...

just taken from my previous post LOL

->WH10M-SILKY
ok... so it's an energy based machine gun, can be equipped on both L and R arms, and little bit drainy when used.

its first appearance is in NB... so when i've got it, medyo naalala ko ang EN machine gun sa MOA, yung R arm weapon na WG-MG500/E (hanep yung weapon na yun, grabe ang reload rate )

pero nung first time kong ginamit, sabi ko "shet, drainer ang weapon na 'to, medyo duling pa... bakit ganito?" ... hmmm.

then, in LR, eto nanaman ako... "Let's see..."

so far, here's my results
- never use it as a stand alone weapon
- much better if used as a L arm weapon
- very effective if paired w/ R arm solid machine gun (PIXIE2, PIXIE3, NIX, etc...) also with R arm rifles (GAST, RA, RA2 etc...) (di ko pa nate-testing yung iba)
- NEVER pair it with another SILKY or other energy weapons
- ALWAYS equip the O06-PHAGE option part, to make it a little energy friendly
- if possible, also equip the O04-GOLGI (to increase its ATK power)
- O05-HISTON... siguro wag na lang, kasi pinabibilis niya ang charge drain... pero kung ok sa'yo, edi sige.
- best used in short range (100~200 range)
- ok with a light weight AC
- use a low drain AC frame (its a must)
- have a good Booster+Generator+Radiator set-up
- you must know how to manage your energy

yun... ok naman siya sa akin, basta nasa L arm ko siya... at naka-equip siya sa isang light weight AC

example:
R arm solid machine gun + L arm energy machine gun = impressive damage (if you can do quick strikes at a short range, firing simultaneously the left SILKY and the R machine gun... just have a strategy...)

ok... that's all for now
