Mix, I tried it out and DRONE seems to fit nicely on this AC (It's a little lighter than the SPIDER). You can count on it to last you for the match and it's got really good radar. Minimal sacrifices on defense and drain too.

So yeah, I tested it out, including akamm's suggestions on shoehorning it all on the LF71.

The problem I faced with changing to a lighter quad leg was that defenses were sure to suffer, not to mention stability going lower. True enough, I found shell defense takes quite a dip (by around 100 points). However, I found that if I popped on the Eye3 and tuned accordingly, I could actually make a pretty balanced AC, defensive-wise. So, I guess here's the next variant:

Tyrant Jr.

Core Frame:
Eye3 | U2 | XS | LF71
0,5,0,5,0 | 0,0,0,5,0 | 0,2,8,0,0 | 0,0,10,0,0
Internal Systems:
Vulture2 | F73H | Lotus | Ananda
0,2,4,4 | ~ | 0,10,0 | 0,0,10
Armaments and Countermeasures:
Medusa | - | 98G | 98G | RS | HP | - | -
Optional Enhancements:
Amino, ES, EC, Kissyoh, L+, Codon

A bit faster, and a bit smaller physically. Does that lead to a lesser chance of getting hit? An interesting question methinks, hehe.

This one lends itself better to skating on the ground, but that also makes it a bit more predictable, since opponents will know what you're up to when you're hugging the ground (but as Zigg showed here, even that's not entirely a necessity Tongue).

All the same however, I think the original one fits my style more. I'm still a bit unsure about the head though, since not one of them broke in tests against the AI (damn From). I have four choices now:
Hornet - has the look of just plain win
Eye3 - stats and nothing else
SR2 - has better defenses, but has greater drain
Drone - better stats than the Hornet but looks meh

I can't make up my mind. :/

Sad to see the EOS go, you could just weight tune and fit it back on. It should provide more shell defense and AP along with the OB. The LF71 has energy defense covered. With the energy drain you saved by switching the legs to LF71 you could even upgrade the arms to Macaque and run around with shell defense over 1700 and energy defense over 1750, with 8395 AP, though the XS drain is hard to pass up.

I wish they did away with head stability, i think that would make many more heads viable.

But if you do stick with the U2 the design is running so cool with no OB that theres really no reason for the cooling tunes, and you could maybe even switch the radiator to Hazel.

Well Akamm that second one he posted was just a variant anyway. Tongue So no worries about losing the EOS. I think Lizard is a fine leg set anyway.

As for the head issue, in terms of stats closest to the SPIDER, DRONE should be your choice. But yeah, if looks are an issue, then use something else. LOL

You know... I actually thought of your design philosophy of 'a mediocre part for every good part equipped' earlier today while I wasn't paying attention in class.

I've decided on the Hornet.

Goddamn, I play too much AC, daydreaming about it in the middle of the day. Tongue
