First, you'll need to save your avatar and signature files in either GIF, JPG or PNG format (although JPG and PNG are pretty much the standard ones for non-animated avatars these days). Other formats could work too, but they've very big file sizes and are not very net-friendly.
Then, sign up for an account at one of the many image hosting services online. <a href='http://www.photobucket.com/' target='_blank'>Photobucket</a> is a popular one. Quick and easy.
Then you just put in the URLs in the proper places in your profile, then boom! you got your avatar and signature.
Oh, by the way, our avatars are 100x100 here. You might want to resize it a bit if your original file is too big. Signatures I'm a bit more lenient on, but don't put up anything TOO big.
