Your reason why you entered AC
#1
O..k. What's the reason why you are playing Armored Core..?

Here's mine: It's because when I was a child I had never seen unique robots. All that I could see was power rangers, a bunch of common cyborgs, old mechas, etc. My uncle had been playing this game and I saw him customize his own AC. I asked him then if I could borrow it because I was curious about AC's features. He'd let me borrow his AC to finish my curiosity about it, but then when I played I got addicted instead. Now I've been hooked into AC ever since.

I got into Armored Core because of the wonderful customization. Here was a game that allowed you to literally assemble your mech. Heads, arms, weapons... it was all there, and all for you to play around with. I was instantly sucked in, and became addicted not long after.

Single player was fun, but PvP was even better. Hell yeah.

Kung pano ko nahanap yung game mismo, well, gusto kong isipin na divine providence talagang magmeet kami ng AC. Tongue

At kasi, alam mo... cool ang mechs.

Eto storya ko...

May shop kami dati sa Novaliches... Libreng CD yung Armored Core: Project Phantasma... Nakita ko yung cover, naangasan ako sa style nung mecha nun... Eh blooming pa nun yung Gundam Wing. Nilaro ko, nag-enjoy ako... Naadik ako... 19 na ko't lahat ito pa rin nilalaro ko. And Take note... Ito lang ang talagang nilalaro ko! Isa pa, bata pa lang ako, [at the extremely young age of 4] mahilig na ko sa mga robot...

This game also features customizable mechs...

Very simple. Ever since i was a kid, robots have been a favorite of mine. I'd watch all the shows i could that featured giant robots and mecha. Any toy i owned had to have something ro do with mechs. When i recieved my very first video game system, i discovered Macross and was immediately hooked.

When i was a bit older (10 years old yata) an uncle showed me a VHS tape he had borrowed from a friend. The video was Zeta Gundam (subtitled lang, di pa uso Gundam noon 94 eh). Good lord! The mech designs were awesome (to me, at that time, i've grown wordlier but the Titans mk. II is still one of the best) and the battles were incredible. The only thing i didn't like about was that the storyline was too complex (for a 10-year old) and grim (halos namatay yung buong cast). Horrific and brutal, yes, but it wasn't enough to douse my love for mecha.

Then in 1997, i got my first Playstation. Pretty few good mech games during that time but Mechwarrior 3050 and Krazy Ivan were enough for me. Then around late 97 someone told me about a game being developed that allowed me to build my very own mech. That i could decide what weapons i could equip on it and i could paint it any way i wanted. I just shrugged it off, thinking that such a game was too good to be true.

I played any game i could find. Then sometime in mid-98, a friend lent me a game called Armored Core. I was initially skeptical about it but after the first few minutes, i realized that this was the game i waited my entire life for. I happily played played through the first few missions. Imagine my dissapointment when the game froze (gasgas yung ilalim nung disc, bwiset). I could only play multiplayer with a poorly designed AC because 1P mode wouldn't load up properly anymore.

Then Project Phantasma was released. I've been in heaven ever since.

Ayus yun ah...

Ang beginning ko naman sa mecha is...

Ever heard of -Bata Batuta Comics- ?

May story sila dun named -X Matrix-... Gundam inspired yung mecha, and believe me, magaling yung artist. That was in 92 or 93 or 94 yata... I was still a book/comic worm back then...

i got into AC first because i fell in love with the level of customization you could have with my AC's. they weren't very good AC's at first, but they were mine. i eventually started to get bored with it, but then i discovered human vs and i was hooked ever since.

Because of the Customization and its semi "realistic"

None of that gathering-huge-amount-of-energy-into-ball weapon or 5000-missles-coming-out-of-one-hand thing without so much as a charge-up.

My turn. Actually, I'm not interested in this before but until then, I realize that this more like a chalenging game for me. Although I'm not good much in controls, but someday, I will be the best.

As akid, I always LOVED my toy robots, Assembling them then UNassembling them. I always dreamt of playing a cideo game that lets you assemble your own robot. when i found AC, I was hooked Instantly, but since i was young, i ws too weak so quit eventually. but when i found Silent line, I came back to my addiction, but I was still too weak and couldn't finish the game, then it came to ninebreaker, still weak and finally, LR... STILL WEAK! I went back to Ninebreaker to hone my skills. It worked and everything just fell into place

.... I hope there are still AC games being produced for PS2 coz getting a PS3 ain't gonna be easy.

Hate to break it to you, but Last Raven is the last release of Armored Core on the PlayStation 2. Sad

You can still collect games you've missed though. If you don't have them yet, I would recommend getting Another Age, AC3, and Silent Line. I've only played Silent Line out of the three, but I hear Another Age is one of the most balanced games in the series. AC3 is the basis for the engine of Silent Line, so I would venture a conjecture that it's balanced too. As for SL itself, well, <a href='http://ravenrepublic.net/index.php?showtopic=290&view=findpost&p=5539345' target='_blank'>here</a>'s what I said about it. Big grin

Uhh... yeah, off-topic post, I know. Sorry, hehe.

I'm sure a lot of you want to know my reasons for playing this game. Ok, you can blame my cousin for showing this game to me. It was back in the summer of 2001 and i had just finished playing through Xenogears for the second time. This cousin of mine asked me what it was that drew me to the game, the storyline or the mecha.

I answered that the relationship between Fei and Elly was one of the key factors why i was taken with the game and that the gears were just a part of the story for me. The mech designs were interesting and for the most part, reminded me of Evangelion (anyone ever noticed the resemblance between Weltall and EVA Unit 01), which i used to watch until the story got too confusing. Anyway, he then asked me if i would be interested in a a game in which i could play as a mecha that i designed myself. My curiosity was aroused (get your minds outta the gutter! >Sad ) and i said "sure, why not."

A couple of hours later, i was in a virtual garage trying to figure out which leg parts would look good on the core i had chosen, what arm parts would complement the head part i equipped, what colors would go with each other and so on and so forth. I admit that the designs i build are more for aesthetic appeal than for actual functionality but they're good enough for me. I never knew an obscure title would give me that much fun. It was more of an acquired taste but Master of Arena and the amount of customization it contained had me glued to the TV for weeks afterwards.

I've played Master of Arena, a little bit of Armored Core 2, Armored Core 3 and Last Raven. PS2 discs are a bit hard to find here in Vigan and if there are any, well Armored Core isn't exactly one of the mainstream games and those were the only titles i've found. I asked my uncle to get me a copy of Last Raven sometime in september. I've been playing it since then, have beaten the five endings but still haven't taken down Zinaida. I doubt i ever will though, she's just too unfair. -_-

Well, that's my story. Sorry if i'm kinda chatty but then again, i did major in English studies. Yeah, very strange that someone like me would play video games. Even stranger that i like these kinds of games. Ha, the world does move in mysterious ways and i'm not your average, ordinary female. Deal with it. Big grin
I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots And the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick — It even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh — Even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you — Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.
