Anime Conventions/Cosplay?

so, whats the anime convention scene over in your guys part of the world like?

I live relatively close to Otakon, one of the larger Anime cons in the US.
for me though, the convention isn't just about Anime itself. I love to enter the AMV's I make to the AMV contest. Otakons AMV contest is real massive and popular.

also, how many con attendees here enjoy kicking their nerdiness up a notch by going in costume?
I decided to try going in costume for the first time at Otakon this past weekend, and had crazy amounts of fun because of it.

I'm extremely happy with how the costume came out, especially since its the first time I ever made one. here I am in costume at the convention.....

I used to dream the chance of wearing such costumes, until it just sort of died out and I've been wanting to just make one than wear it since then. Also, I prefer armored characters (be it a black knight, a spec ops soldier from something like Lost Planet and Kerberos Saga, or a mecha).

Yep, pretty much Goat summed it up. I only know 4 people in RR who ever cosplayed at a point in their life and entered a con though.

Cons here tend to be really crowded, so it's rare for most of us to even think of going. There's at least one or 2 big ones per year here in Manila and numerous smaller ones.
